Why do Republicans want “Civics” classes to replace “Social Studies” classes in schools?

Republicans hate all things civic-minded after all, it’s not like one of those subjects ought to be more friendly territory for right wingers than the other.

How many Republicans and which ones? Have you conducted actual research on this or are you spewing just to post something?

@RedBaron Lol. Yes, I go into the field and conduct rigorous, peer-reviewed research before each and every post I make on Similar Worlds, and I expect the same from everyone else.

Yeah right. I haven’t kept count, but it’s something that in my personal experience I’ve heard or read conservatives say multiple times. Get a life, dude.
@Theyitis Why don't you go on the site of the Center for Civic Education and look at their programs?
(disclsure: I support their work) Civics is about the contitutional structire of our republic and how denocracy works within it; the separation of powers among the three branches of government [do you know what they are?]; what constitutional liberties we have [including your right to spout nonsense]; the limited powers of the federal government [did you know that]. etc.
"Social studies" is an amorphous term which is largely content free with respect to real civics.

@LamontCranston I do know that the three branches of government are Legislative, Executive, and Judicial, and yes, I know there are limits on our government’s power. Did you know that Dictionary.com defines civics as “The study or science of the privileges and obligations of citizens.”? Fancy that, the idea that each citizen has certain responsibilities to help foster a safe and empowering community for the benefit of others.
@Theyitis Yes, I know that very well and I know that civics studies have been ignored in many school systems to the detriment of our repubic. Citizens should obey the law. What other obligations do they have? Bow to elites who undermine the rule of law and push progressive policies?
I'll bet you that half of graduating seniors of public schools can't name the three branches. Or that that a court can void a legislative or executive act and why.

@Theyitis Just as I thought. You are spewing just to post something, but telling me to get a life.

That’s rich, “dude.”
