Women in France rejoice over enshrined right to abortion

This week, women in France celebrated the newly enshrined right to abort their children.

The US was able to recognize that this right is not constitutional, and could only be if you rewrite the constitution. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, states have been able to decide their own abortion laws.

French president said: "we're sending a message to all women: your body belongs to you and no one can decide for you."

He added he "will not rest" until abortion is introduced to the EU's Charter of Fundamental Rights. In a speech during the ceremony to mark this now constitutional right, he declared this is "freedom, a fight made up of tears, tragedies and broken destinies."

Yes, there are many broken destinies. They are broken because they were taken by abortion.

The Eiffel Tower lit up with the words "#My bodyMychoice." Women in France believe that this is a "victory."

Victory for whom, I wonder?

I still wanna know why 30% of pregnancies ending up in natural miscarriage isn't treated like an ongoing apocalypse.

@CountScrofula Well, those pregnancies don't count, because God clearly didn't want them to happen.

@CountScrofula Are their lives ended by a source outside their body? Is there a mind, a human mind, planning to end their lives, with human hands taking the pill or using the surgical instrument?

We don't normally approve of people being killed and dissected by their killers.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SW-User So lives which are ended accidentally have no value to you?
SW-User
@CountScrofula They have the same value. Do the lives deliberately ended by abortion have value to you?

@CountScrofula You notice how @SW-User tries to turn your question around on you, completely oblivious to the fact that he's making no sense?

@SW-User Don't redirect. Okay, so. Follow my line of thinking here.

My wife and I tried for a kid for years and it didn't work out. Turns out that she was miscarrying all the time and can't bear children.

Thus, if we have unprotected sex, we will almost certainly kill someone.

Should we be stopped?

@CountScrofula Women who are able to get pregnant, but not stay pregnant, should use contraception if they want to avoid losing their babies. Does your wife want to put herself through that?

@CountScrofula Was it deliberate? Did you plan it?

I ask again, why do you want to do that to yourselves?

You sound like you're on crack cocaine my friend! You obviously don't have a clear understanding of what a contraceptive is for!

Please explain to the studio audience how the use of a contraceptive will prevent a woman from losing her baby? You wrote that in your quote above!

And in future, please create a profile for yourself and please stop showing up here drunk and disorderly! Thanks!

@SW-User Okay let me lay out my argument explicitly.

Pregnancies naturally terminate all the time. Routinely. We say 30% but most people know it's way higher we just can't measure it because miscarriages happen before we even know it a lot.

We all know that and accept that losing pregnancies is a normal part of continuing the species. Human bodies end pregnancies all the goddamn time. This is normal. We accept it as normal. We don't treat it like manslaughter.

This is why abortion is actually fine. For the same reason that bodies terminating pregnancies all the time is fine. Sometimes it is tragic and sad, as some abortions are, but most of the time, it's just a normal part of life.

If miscarriage is not manslaughter, abortion is not murder. You cannot apply different rules in a way that makes any sense.

@CountScrofula "Naturally terminate" doesn't exist, it isn't real. You are talking about miscarriages, not pills or procedures intended to end a pregnancy and expel the baby from the body.
