When your political heroes take a crazy turn...

Glenn Greenwals has done so much excellent journalism and is an icon for the left but he's morphed into a Trump apologist.

I've just seen a liong debate he had with Destiny on the January the 6th and Greenwald was adamantly defending the idea that it wasn't an insurrection. Why? And also, it's bollocks. Also, giving it back to the libs doesn't count as speaking the truth to power when you are being an apologist for the far right.

It's like your favourite indie band produces a synth pop album with shit lyrics and tells the world that they don't get how cool and edgy they are.

Pfffff.

For those calling Greenwald a grifter and a Putin stooge as a reason for his change, I don't quite agree. This article has a long and deep dive analysis, if you have the time.

@Burnley123 Why can you not accept that people evolve and change their minds on things? Why does it always have to be this sinister thing where people are seduced by dark powers?

I've followed both Greenwald and Taibbi for years and I followed them as they left their cushy corporate media jobs and chose to start over on their own promoting their own brand.

Clearly they believed it was the correct thing to do.

You don't have to agree, but I would implore you to stop viewing things as a binary either/or argument.

You can still respect both men's contributions to journalism and not agree with their viewpoints now.

@SumKindaMunster Hmm

I will criticise people when I think they are right and go against them when they are not.

I started watching the Destiny debate wanting to agree with Greenwald. Destiny is pro-establishment and pro-Israel but he is wrong on this and Destiny is right.

@Burnley123 Confirmation bias.

@SumKindaMunster I have a confirmation bias towards the truth.

@Burnley123 I just have to note the immature and childish way in which you dismiss those that you no longer agree with. It's interesting you supported Glenn Greenwald when he was reporting on things you agreed with, now that he is not, he is no longer worthy of your consideration or respect.

Again, you could just let it just be a difference of opinions but I am noting the dismissal in your tone and words.
