You can only vote on one answer.
Referendums, are a great tool, where i live, we have written laws and voted in them, some are quite controversial, but at least our voices are not just heard,, but actualized

Consider Oklahoma ( not my state) where in spite of being in the Buckle of the Bible belt
and Darn near a RedHat Reservation, they voted to PASS marijuana access
Just when you think you know a place!

do you have any tool for direct democracy where you Live or not,

do you think it is a good idea?

thanks for the Reply

California's ballot only has one proposition this coming election that we will vote on. This is actually weird there's only one. But it's a humongous proposition. More like a book.

Good or bad? Hmmm. None will likely understand the true purpose of this proposition. It's that big.

I don't remember many propositions that are this big. So I suspect it will fail. It does make the state government far bigger and takes away power from the local governments.

@SatyrService Well those are secondary. You have to know how much it costs and who gets the cash before you can decide if youn want it done by them at that price..Going back a lot of years now, one of our Prime Ministers (A staunch Catholic) decided to award a health dept family planning counselling contract to a non profit set up by the Catholic church,,.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman i might want a thing for my local laws, that might be sponsored by those I disagree with
but where I live the backing is revealed as part of the process

@SatyrService This is where it starts to get technical and personal. Personally I dig into an issue and what it means to me and those around me. Some go with "What would Jesus do?" while others go "My country, right or wrong."😷

@OldMan70 so far 26 US states have the process.
a National one would be great but politicians would resist with all their might
We have referendums… on insignificant stuff.
Things like signing up to global initiatives like the UN/NATO.. WEF..
we were never asked. They just did..
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout yeah,, that is because we have no National referendum process
the 26 states that do have changed things locally.

but politicians would resist that with all their might

I bloody wish.
Switzerland is the only state with a semi direct democracy system. It's one of the nicest places to live.
