Air travel makes me nervous because i know the quality of workmanship and maintenance that is available in today's workplace.
I'm not crazy about taking the flight that the field crew guy thought his hands were too cold to check the plugs(i know...plugs)

@Carla I have some IT experience in the airline industry...there are all kinds of safety features and redundancy built into the aircraft and on the flight operations side. The people in maintenance and engineering are diligent.

@BizSuitStacy and then a door flies off. Because why? Bolts.
I know of boats built and sent out on the water with uncaulked gunneling. There are millions of auto recalls.
You say they are diligent. I say any industry that involves the necessity of extreme safety and mechanical excellence, should not be in the business of inspecting and policing (not poice, police) themselves.

@Carla That's two different issues. The problem with the door on the 737 MAX is a manufacturing issue. The "field crew guy" aka M&E (maintenance and engineering) works for the airline, and wouldn't know this was a risk/problem. Just like the software problem Boeing had on the MAX 8 that caused those crashes...the pilots and flight ops team wouldn't know about that either.

@Jenny1234 right? It's so ridiculous, it's downright terrifying.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@BizSuitStacy absolutely

To be ATCs?

@TexChik I had the same question. The article doesn't specify roles.

@TexChik maybe luggage handlers so they can break more souvenirs from other countries when they drop it on the ground.

Good time to keep my butt parked at home or road trips then huh?
