IF you are a Trump supporter...

and he somehow, for some reason is not on the ballot, would you vote for Nikki Haley if she were the Republican candidate?

Reading through these and seeing how people hate the other side, and everything they stand for, it just makes me think... Don't people know that if they think their side is always all right, and the other side is always all wrong - that someone must be manipulating and lying to them?

I really wish people would take a moment to listen to the worries of the other side, before considering them idiots.

And this goes for both sides.

@Lucia that’s true. Good people typically won’t run for a high office, so we’re stuck picking between two flawed candidates.
Lucia · 36-40
@joe438 But if you look around, you see it everywhere. Many voters are as much of a problem as the people running for office.

This concept that the other side must be the enemy, always wrong or evil. It makes me so sad to see it. The prosperity of any country is based on collaborating about building - rather than tearing down by fighting. It has be scared for the future.

But concluding that both options are poor is a reasonable observation, yes.

@Lucia There is way too much divisiveness. And neither party is immune or excused. Both sides sling mud. Both parties espouse falsehoods. From one side we get the election was stolen lies. From the other we get the don't believe your own eyes, things are great lies. All we can count on is we can't count on anything. Whatever happened to disagreement with respect.
Lucia · 36-40
@SW-User Yes. Exactly. The voicing of differences of opinion without belittling and/or threats. I don't think the election was stolen - but pursuing Trump with legal allegations ever since seem to be a really wrong (not just stupid, wrong) strategy.

If you fail - your own side lose faith in the justice system. If you succeed - the other side lose faith in the justice system.

And any capitalist system needs faith in the justice system.

@Lucia i’d love it if we as a country could stop fighting with each other. we have political and social groups, who seem to want to urge us to fight as much as possible.
Lucia · 36-40
@joe438 If I am to blame anything - it would be social media. Constantly prompting people with ideas, thoughts, opinions and "news" that 100 % align with their previous views. No new food for thought. No wondering why the neighbour went from two cars to one. And sure as hell the neighbour doesn't wonder why you install 6 extra locks and get an extra gun.

Instead we just try and take our view and force it down other people throats as the god given truth. That goes for one of my own sub groups as well, which I am increasingly distancing myself from. I can't stand all this hate.
needsmilk808 · 56-60, M
@joe438 yes the uniparty want hate and division so that they maintain control. If we unite as a country we can’t be controlled by them.

@Lucia Don't base your view on the loudest people on each side. Most Americans have a range of opinions. For example, you might assume that Democrats support abortion rights while Republicans oppose them, when in fact, many people who are otherwise conservative are pro-choice. The proof of this is that in every election since the Dobbs decision where abortion was on the ballot in some form, the voters chose to legalize it, even in conservative states like Kansas and Ohio. These people just aren't single-issue voters, so they might still vote for Republican candidates even if they disagree with their stance on abortion.

Same for universal health insurance, which has majority support even though the Republicans oppose it. You have people voting for Republicans who disagree with them on this issue.

@LeopoldBloom I am basing worry on the loudest people because they, currently, pose a threat to security, democracy and freedom.
@Lucia How do they pose a threat to "security, democracy, and freedom?" There aren't enough of them to pose a direct threat, and since there are extremists on both sides, they'll spend a lot of energy fighting each other.

It is possible that violent Trump supporters might attack selected polling places in Atlanta and Detroit in an effort to stop Black voters from voting, with the goal of flipping those states, but since they tend to broadcast their intentions, that allows law enforcement to prepare for them.

@LeopoldBloom The attack on the capitol was also warned well in advance.
