To bring the idiots here up to speed on insurrection: The Trump rally on Jan 6 WHICH BY THE WAY WAS A CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED PUBLIC MEETING, had almost a half a million people there. If LEGALLY ELECTED PRESIDENT TRUMP had wanted an insurrection, he would have ordered that ENTIRE CROWD to do it. These things would have happened. 1. Capitol Hill would have been burned to the ground. 2. Pretty much most if not all of Congress would be either dead or in the hospital. 3. Pretty much most of the Supreme Court would be dead and their offices burnt down. 4. The Joint Chiefs of Staff would be dead, leaving the military with only the Commander In Chief to lead them. At that time, it was still LEGALLY ELECTED PRESIDENT TRUMP. 5.Trump would have made himself KING of America. He would have the nuclear launch codes. He would have control of the military. There would be no more elections.
NONE of that happened. So there was no insurrection. You might call that little romp in the Capitol an insurrection. That just means you're stupid and you don't know anything.

Insurrection is a only one possible cause for barring Trump. The text reads
... shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same
In other words, "rebellion" is a sufficient reason for barring Trump.
Regardless, it was still an insurrection! A few cops aided the insurrection therefore it wasn't an insurrection? What a silly argument!!!
Were you there?? NO! But Mitch McConnell was. And he used the phrase "failed insurrection." Let's see his description in context.
The United States and the United States Congress have faced down much greater threats than the unhinged crowd we saw today. We've never been deterred before, and we will not be deterred today. They tried to disrupt our democracy. They failed. They failed. They failed to attempt to obstruct the Congress.
This failed insurrection only underscores how crucial the task before us is for our republic. Our nation was founded precisely so that the free choice of the American people is what shapes our self-government and determines the destiny of our nation – not fear, not force, but the peaceful expression of the popular will.
Now, we assembled this afternoon to count our citizens' votes and to formalize their choice of the next president. Now we're going to finish exactly what we started. We'll complete the process the right way by the book. We'll follow our precedents, our laws and our Constitution to the letter. And we will certify the winner of the 2020 presidential election. Criminal behavior will never dominate the United States Congress. This institution is resilient. Our democratic republic is strong.
@MarmeeMarch Trump involved himself in seven different conspiracies involving fake electors; and there are more specific criminal acts.
For the curious mind, Jack Smith's Jan 6 indictment, available these past 5 months, spells Trump's Jan 6 crimes out in excruciating detail: https://www.justice.gov/storage/US_v_Trump_23_cr_257.pdf
William Barr says this: Trump’s lawyers have argued that his statements were protected under the First Amendment, a position that Barr, in his first interview since Trump’s third indictment, said was not a valid argument.
“As the indictment says, they are not attacking his First Amendment right. He can say whatever he wants, he can even lie. He can even tell people that the election was stolen when he knew better,” Barr said. “But that does not protect you from entering into a conspiracy.”
@MarmeeMarch You seem to have forgotten your question:
So tell me, exactly how was he involved ?
I believe Jack Smith's indictment, based on grand jury testimony answered that question quite thoroughly. And one of the key points to realize is that his involvement ext, ends months prior to Jan 6.
