The voters in Illinois don't care all that much about where our governor's family travels. We're more focused on what the GOVERNOR is doing.

... and 2024 is an election year.
Beto ran a pathetic campaign against Cruz in 2018. And yet the margin was decided by 108,000 who, if flipped, would have helped given the Dems a solid margin in 2020 without all the Manchin/Sinema drama.
If I were running against I'd be bringing up all the nasty stuff Trump said about his wife and father. If Cruz took the bait, he have lost MAGA votes.
And if he failed to respond by criticizing Trump, that's when I'd bring up all the nasty stuff he said about Trump! And he would have lost MAGA votes.
O'Rourke: "Senator Cruz is not going to be honest with you. He's going to make up positions and votes that I have never held or have ever taken. He's dishonest. That's why the president called him "Lyin' Ted" and it's why the nickname stuck because it's true."
Cruz: "It's clear Congressman O'Rourke's pollsters have told him to come out on the attack. So if he wants to insult me and call me a liar, that's fine. But, you know, John Adams famously said facts are stubborn things."
---
How about?
Romero: "I think the question that needs answered is whether Senator Cruz is trustworthy. Will he flip-flop on his positions? Will he make up lies about me? As everyone knows, the president called him "Lyin' Ted." So I think it's only fair to ask the Senator: is he telling the truth? Or is it President Trump who is the liar? Who's the liar, Senator? You or the president?"
