What Egypt will do is anyone's guess. They are facing pressure from the US to take refugees. Their own population doesn't want them to be complicit with ethnic cleansing so they have the border closed. They might face pressure to open it as the bodies pile up, as seems to be Israel's plan.

Entire families who had fled there perished , persuading many others that it was likely less dangerous to actually stay where they were.
