Why to secular western leftists support Islamic terrorist groups?

I'm a liberal and I do not support Islamic terrorists. They want to impose a 7th century regressive theocracy on the world. Islamic fundamentalists are the enemies of women, gays, and free-thinkers everywhere. I sympathize with the Israeli people.

@Burnley123 In American political usage liberal (also called Progressive) is contrasted with conservative and right-wing. Liberalism can be defined as "Relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes civil liberties, democracy, equal rights, opposing racism...a belief that government should actively work to improve the condition of the poor and working class."
