Secular western leftists oppose killing innocent people, full stop. I have found recently that unless I phrase it with just the right pile of caveats, my opposition to killing Gazan innocents will be interpreted as support for Hamas, and my opposition to killing Israeli innocents will be interpreted as support for arbitrary invasions of Gaza.
