Scheduled to be laid down in 2027 and commissioned in 2036 to replace CVN-71, USS Theodore Roosevelt.

(I've left out a few obvious choices - Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, William Halsey, John McCain (senator), etc. - because they already have current naval vessels named after them.)

No on Grant, he is a traitor to the Stars and Stripes and shouldn't even be an option. Out of all mentioned though, I do like "USS Dwight D Eisenhower." He wasn't just a strong military man, he was wise too.

Grant helped SAVE the Union.

He should have been honored on Mount Rushmore before Teddy Roosevelt.
