Is it true?

Those who grow up under autocratic governments question everything the government tells them. Those who grow up under liberal democracy simply believe everything the government says.

No. But as a liberal democracy must rely upon consensus and negotiation - rather than physical force and coercion - to realise its objectives, it is not unexpected that it will be trusted by at least some of its citizens.

@SunshineGirl And when the leadership goes rogue as we see in Canada and the US at the moment?????

@hippyjoe1955 It is natural and healthy to question authority, but taking the view that all authority is inescapably corrupt is self-serving. Many politicians earnestly cultivate trust as anyone else in society would. Without it we can't get a great deal done.

@SunshineGirl Yeah the politicians have worked long and hard at not deserving our trust. That completely aside it is not the politicians that we should be concerned about. They are little more than happy face puppets in the control of the 'deep state'. I don't want to reduce this to Trumpisms but the fact is that politicians come and go but the permanents government lasts forever.
