US Government shut down cost

Would it cost more to restart the government after an extended shut down?

What would the financial impact be on US financial markets around the world from a government shut down?

Would it be cheaper to keep the government going?

It's not about cheaper or governance. The 2 million or so government employees will be paid retroactively. But about 4 million government contractors won't. The Democrats, and some Republicans, have done everything right in terms of the appropriation bills this is about. But a very small group of extremists, unserious people with a true desire to fundamentally change this Democracy, have hijacked the process. And because those in their party are too weak to stand up against them, here we are.
