I think you can only come to such a conclusion if you don't understand the point of so called Idpol and use MLK exclusivity as a source of out of context quotes as soundbites. For someone who claims not to be a Conservative you certainly make the exact same arguments.
And the rant about identity is strange since you make a point of engaging in it on your own profile. Seems like a lack of self awareness too.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow What are the positive benefits of identity politics in your mind?
Has it brought people closer together over the years, or have people divided even further based on something as silly as skin color?
It is an ideology based on hierarchical division based on physical traits. Please explain how that will fix anything. Historically speaking, humankind has made this same mistake and it seems the left wants to keep repeating it. There can be no progress if we’re not all treated as equals.
I’m not sure what’s so controversial about this. You know.. true equality. That used to be what the left stood for.

@ToastyPickles What gets labeled as "identity poltics" by reactionaries (almost exclusively right wingers) are those who oppose oppressive hierarchies based on what they were labeled.
Equality looks like oppression when you are accustomed to supremacy.
MLK spoke of a dream in this speech because he understood that is not the world we live in. Right wingers and I include you in this based on your politics like to gaslight people into pretending we do live in such a world.
Pretending for example the LGBTQ community can just hug it out and talk about mutual respect with bigots today is as idiotic and dishonest as claiming MLK could hug it out with the KKK in his day.
The hierarchy based divisions are a right wing concept and the foundation of right wing ideologies.
Those oppressed at the bottom raising a stink is the only thing that has ever led to progress. Your pretending not to understand this leads me to believe you are speaking in bad faith.
I will also point out this kind of argument largely only became an issue among insecure white cis hetero men suddenly feeling their position was being upset.
You also are making the claim the right makes that identity politics is only a thing on the left. First off nothing you mentioned here has anything to do with left wing politics.
And some of the most vocal identity politics activists are the right supported by an entire media empire basing their ideology on the idea that white hetero men are an endangered species being forced into extinction. Hell they are even taking it to the point of mainstreaming neo nazi "white genocide" conspiracies.
Quit pretending like every right wing reactionary that racism stopped after the civil war and that the US is a meritocracy (which is a dumb system anyway when you think it through).
MLK was also a socialist which hardly puts him in your right wing camp.
It is no accident he got shot when he started to talk about economic equality too.
