Why is the bible belt so backwards

Compared to secular states alot if not most of US social problemns are concentrated there amongst godfearing conservatives does conservative religous ideologi lead to poverty while secular liberal and tolerant ideology leads to higher level of education prosperity innovation and physical wellbeing.

Meh the media have been demonising Christians as long as my millenial self can remember.

I couldn't believe my eyes when 'what would you do' cast the bible belt in a great light!'
