Have costs of higher education gone upp in the US the latest decades

Are the cost of for higher education for a student higher now in the US than in decades past in terms of out of pocket expenses causing student debt and was student debt a problem in the past.

@Spotpot Absolutely, and the great majority of that are administrative costs. In other words, higher salaries, better pay, perks for the staff. The price of actually educating the student remains the same. 18-year-old kids should not have to shoulder the burden of imbecilic adults who can’t agree on the worth of education in the world.
