US congress and Innocent until proven guilty or guilty until proven innocent?

This is just food for though. This would never happen, because of how corrupt congress as a whole is. Both major parties wouldn't allow it!

Innocent until proven guilty is supposed to be the normal procedure.

It is understandable for most judicial procedures throughout the nation to be that way.

It's in fact apart of the 5th, 6th and 14th amendments.

Yet I wonder if it should be applied to the law makers themselves. They are supposed to be held to a much higher standard because they are the ones creating the laws themselves.

They most certainly are not common people because of this. They are the law makers and can undo any laws that may effect themselves.

It's similar to congress giving themselves pay raises which is a controversial issue by itself. Both parties do it. Is it right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is why I wonder if federal Congress members should be held to the same standards as the average citizens.

They can create the laws as well as can undo the same laws. And therefore must be held to higher standards than the average citizens.

Is it justice when there is doubt about criminal activities? Why must they, above all others, be considered innocent before being guilty?

I just don't consider law makers as common people. They should be held to higher standards then the average citizen. Not given dispensation because they are congress members.

Once again, this is just food for though. I know this would never pass as any constitutional amendments.

In fact it's laughable of ever happening! 😆

I agree. Anyone who takes the taxppayers $ should be held to standards applicable to their position. Police need to be scrupously law abiding. Teachers need to be the most educated communicators and politicians need to be ethically and morally above reproach. And No.. I dont know how we are ever going to get any of that...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't know whether to cheer or frown. And both for the same reasons.

@DeWayfarer There has to be a way.. But I dont see how we get there from where we are..😷
Let’s agree there’s enough circumstantial evidence that the entire congress is compromised.
And every last one should step down.
Term limits and out law lobbyists.
Would be the best option for a fresh start

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout depending on the length of term limits I would agree to both.

Certainly lifetime positions isn't right! Yet like with my proposal, that as well would never happen.

Both show the state of corruption in Congress. 😞
@DeWayfarer 2x terms.
Why is the highest seat in the land limited but not congress or senate? That’s dumb..
Also.
Judges /DOJ/FBI etc . Should be electable positions.
As if the sitting prez is not going to install cronies who won’t hold him to account…

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I would say three max. Twelve years is long enough.

You must consider consistency of foreign national policy.

You're not going to make any friends internationally changing foreign policy so often.
