All this is is a system to transfer money from banks to banks for wire transfers, and the like. Basically bringing the US banking system to where Canada and most of the developed world was at in the 90s.
Americans still use paper cheques like it is 1982.
@Roundandroundwego Many still do. Just because you don't doesn't magically make it a trend. So do something about getting ripped off by the banks.
And anyway this system impacts pretty much exclusively wire transfers and the like between banks it will not matter. Unless you have an offshore account you won't notice.
