I hate political posts, but this is exactly what all Americans should ask about politicians!

When there is political corruption, it comes from corporations who bribe our elected officials with campaign contributions. Both parties are involved. The solution is REAL campaign finance reform, including prohibiting all private campaign contributions. We need publicly financed elections. To accomplish this will require repealing the supreme court's worst decision: Citizens v. United 2010,

@irishmolly72 Also agree. The politicians do not have the courage to either cut spending or raise taxes so the budget gets paid for, so they borrow and pass the tax burden on to future taxpayers...with interest!!! Wish I could run my house that way (not really).

@Docdon23 I wish there were a Republican counterpart to Joe Manchin. We could take another stab at a Simpson-Bowles type of approach.

@badminton hmmm? More likely it comes from politicians pandering to corporations with favors to sell.

It's clear that banks and the IRS are borderline incompetent when it comes to explaining where money came from, and where it went.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@SusanInFlorida Incompetent like a fox.

many are too smart for that - they wait until after they leave public office and command millions in speaking fees or book deals

let's get those tax returns as well
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Pretzel No they are not too smart for that in reality. They all become millionaires in the US Senate and US Congress once they arrive and take office. So, they are smart enough to run and to get elected, and once elected they become a millionaire with 100% free health care for life (Not the piss poor Obama care we are stuck with either) and their children can go to any college for free paid for by the taxpayers.

They are not smart; they are just crafty manipulative asses that learn how to pad their own pockets while we get the scraps.

@WillaKissing That's the perfect argument for keeping the government as small as possible. At least then the politicians will have less ability to suck our blood.

Our nearly $32 trillion in debt gives them lots of money to play with:
