@RebelliousSpirit you have to be a special form of gullible to think those chemicals are harmless. They began to be widespread about the time Charles Whitman climbed the Texas tower. Mass murders like this were virtually unknown before that. Those drugs are a near universal common denominator in these shooters

@redredred We keep getting told that the problem is X, but nobody can explain why other countries also have X, but only America regularly has mass shootings.

@BohemianBabe Do some research. Psychotropic pediatric drugs are far more common in the US than most places. The US is also the home of far many more divergent cultures allowing for lots of loners and outsiders not fitting in.

@redredred It's true that Americans spend more on meds than any other country. However, if we look at other countries that spend a lot on meds, they don't have more shootings than the countries that spend less. If this was the issue, then we should see more cases of shootings as a direct correlation to the issues you mentioned.

But I do agree that mental illness probably plays a role, being coupled with access to guns. If that's the case, why not support policy that addresses this? If your stance is that it's all about mental health, then vote for mental health policies.
