Let me be clear

On the war in Ukraine we're mad not to use the tools of diplomacy to try to end the war. I'm sure that you want to jump the gun on me now and tell me that I'm a Russian stooge etc. Heck, I'm not even using the dreadful words of negotiation and peace here. No, what I'm saying yet again is why not try to stop the war? Putin will not fall this year or the next, and by the time he does we'll all be really out of pocket money. Now don't expect Europe to fund the reconstruction because something like that always comes after the above mentioned usage of the tools of diplomacy. Jaw, jaw is always better than war, war, remember that Churchill saying? Heck, we're all coming out of a pandemic and we're still funding a war instead of ending one. Utter madness!

PS I'm sorry that I've left some of the discussions on faith unaswered as yet on here. It was because of ill health. I'll try to bring those to the front too next. But lets move to this one yet again first

@RodionRomanovitch The dummy blocked me. That's her way of dealing with the argument.

@Northwest Some people have really dumb, naive or even insane takes on the conflict.
No matter what someone thinks of Zelensky as a person or his politics pretending he is the same as Putin and trying to (partially) blame Ukraine for its invasion is just the worst.
It's horrible what Putin puts his own and the people of Ukraine through.
Northwest · M
@Annie13 It's really very simple: Putin invaded the Ukraine, not the other way around. The way can stop any minute, when Putin makes that decision. I also noticed that the apologists did not have a response to the point by point to the China "peace plan". That's also bullshit and President Biden was right calling them on it.

@Northwest Nah, nothing sensible to respond to here either :-)

I have no idea what you're saying here. If someone walks into your home, and starts beating you up, would you try to defend yourself?

@Northwest He’d be Monty Hall.
val70 · 51-55
No, not really. My own country had been occupied by the Germans once already. Somehow the borders are still the same nowadays, but... oh yes, millions of death... that made the difference. Needed to have had the slaughterhouse before the sense kicked in. It's way too easy to talk about war war like that when one hasn't seen its effects up close. But then again, I'm only a silly old bat
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@val70 Except the ones being invaded don’t seem to share your opinion.
val70 · 51-55
@Fukfacewillie Of what? To end the war as quickly as possible? Is that so very bad? Well, near to no-one objected to a settlement in 2014. Perhaps the difference is now that one is trying to bleed a country to death. Big mistake that. It will take ever so long. To what purpose? To negate that 2014 happened? To end conflict and war was the reasoning of setting up the UN in the first place. What happend with that conflict along the Kongo border then? Didn't come up much either on the media
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@val70 Yes, it is so very bad. Your attempts at deflection do not move me. We have our positions. So it goes.
val70 · 51-55
@Fukfacewillie Fair, but showing up policy that isn't consistent isn't deflecting. You know better than that
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@val70 Pointing our areas where you see inconsistency has absolutely no relevance about you advocating appeasement now and saying Ukraine has no right to resist conquest. You are approaching silliness.
val70 · 51-55
@Fukfacewillie 2014 remember? And I'm silly because I want peace instead war. Wow! Times have changed alright
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@val70 Again, irrelevant deflection.
val70 · 51-55
@Fukfacewillie Yep, have a good life :-)
Annie13 · F
@val70 Yes you are being silly. Your idea of peace is flawed. You expect people to bow down to russia and let themselves be oppressed.
Why do you think Ukraine should have no right or chance to resist conquest?
val70 · 51-55
@Annie13 Where am I claiming that? Where am I saying that defending oneself is even useless? I've been saying this last year and now that in the end it's all going be war war with jaw jaw. You really think that Ukraine will get peace next year? Will get everthing that they wanted? That Russia will just pack it all in and go sit on its hands? Or even Europe will hand out billions to rebuilt the country? It's called being a realist. But don't take my word for it. Just wait and see :-)
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@val70 I don’t know if they will win. I know they will lose if Putin is appeased which is what you are advocating.
Annie13 · F
@val70 I don't know whether they will get everything they want but I know they will lose everything if Putin has his way.
