Entire Leadership Of New Jersey Town Switches From Democrat To Republican

The entire leadership of the town of East Hanover, New Jersey just flipped from Democrat to Republican.

It’s probably safe to assume the reasons for the change were the economy and crime, but you have to wonder if other factors were in play.

Will anyone be surprised if this starts happening in other states?

Newsmax reports:

Town Leaders in NJ Town Switch From Dem to GOP

Town leaders in East Hanover, N.J., including longtime Mayor Joseph Pannullo, have switched party affiliations from Democrat to Republican, according to the Daily Record.

The entire township council joined Pannullo in making the switch.

“Municipal leaders have a responsibility to best represent their constituents, and it is our belief this change of party is in the best interest of the community,” Pannullo, who has served as mayor since 2007, said in a statement.

“As the nastiness, rhetoric, and social media vitriol of national politics continues to infiltrate local governance, we collectively determined this was the best course of action to keep the focus on local issues impacting our community.”

Morris County Democratic chairwoman Amalia Duarte said she was disappointed by the move.

“But, the real story is that Morris County is rapidly trending more Democratic, as we saw in the last election cycle. We won new municipal seats, flipped Morris Township to entirely Democratic and all of our incumbents were re-elected, including in East Hanover,” she added.

This seems like a pretty big story.
You see more and more who used to be on the left, either switching to republican or libertarian, or choosing to go independent. the democratic party who used to represent union and blue collar workers, that party is dead.

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Will they change their ways though after they join other parties? Or will they embed themselves into those parties and if elected go back to their old tricks?
@cherokeepatti hell, we got plenty of republicans who talk a good conservative game and then just as soon as they win their election, they go back to rubbin elbows with nancy and chuck. (see mitch mcconnell and lindsey graham and lynn cheney)

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy yeah we do. I’m thinking these new converts are more of the same.

As a former Democrat, now Independent who generally votes for Republican candidates, I have to say I am not optimistic. Too large a percentage of young Americans are convinced the federal government can/will solve their problems. A good example comes from conversations I have with 30–40-year-olds who want federal legislation to control all local school districts. I'm also pro-life, but that's obviously the minority opinion.

They are like frogs jumping off of a sinking log at this point.

"City Council Grows Brain" The Democrat Party is just a bunch of looneys now. Banning gas stoves? Castrating children? Where does Democrat madness end?
AbbeyRhode · F
Good for them! I pray it's just the beginning, and there are more Democrats who will reject the pure evil endorsed by their party.

Democrats now support the demonic. They do not support any of my concerns or interests. Vote them all out or impeach.
AceWarbringer · 36-40, M
If they are the same old politicians, they wont change.

Throw em out and get new ones.

generally, career politicians only switch parties when they conclude it will help them get elected/re-elected. it's like wearing a uniform.

i wouldn't necessarily believe that a bunch of low level officials are making a U turn on taxes or crime simply by switching parties. You can be for fiscal responsibility and law and order as a democrat, after all.
I wonder how Phil is taking it.

I am glad for them. It's important to get away from the party of doom before it's too late.

If it is Newsmax - it is not a big story.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@trollslayer If it's trollslayer - it doesn't matter.
justanothername · 51-55, M
@trollslayer Correct. They are trying to pick up subscribers to bolster their dwindling cash supplies.

Isn’t NewsMax that right wing subscription based faux news station that is struggling to pay its bills due to dwindling viewer numbers?
Carissimi · 70-79, F
I suppose it’s not fair to the Democrats who voted for them. It’s a bait and switch. I wonder if they still hold Leftist values. Seems strange to say the least.
