Do violent individuals become cops just so they can brutalize other individuals?

eli1601 · 70-79, M
Several dumbasses from high school became cops. For some of them it seemed to be a power trip.
it happens a LOT
across time we see this

do see the old movie Clockwork Orange the do that
and yes we need a National Police registry
so we can track the bad ones

i pulled up on a horrific scene man on the ground ambulances and cops

seems he was severely burned and was driving himself to the hospital
\ cops forced him off the road and when he exited the car bright red and freaked out
the Police men "scared for their safety" Killed this man

same county?
the Head Librarian found herself with a boot on her neck
seems the cop questioned her about her seat belt use as she left the car to go into the library? two bags of books, Drop the bags ma'am! she was not fast enough an was thrown to the ground,
actual boot on her actual neck
her mom came here from the camps in Germany

we have to re examine policing

@SatyrService If Police trainers are going to be honest with themselves they should be ashamed of the substandard level of police work on display across various news stations in the US.

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of psychological assessment done on cops or any sort of understanding of the ethics of arresting people.

I’m not surprised that that guy tried to run away from police. As stupid as it may seem, if it was me I’d have done the same thing. Currrntky I’d say that if you get pulled over for a minor traffic violation that you have a 90% chance of being shot or beaten up by the cop who pulled you over.
@justanothername yes were i a black man I too would have had the instinct to run, even from black officers i would not say 90% i would say a serious chance...

I investigated a while back, police hiring practices. and there were so little examinations of an officers mentality and emotional health. in many cases there were not even background checks,,i was told in confidence, "if we do what you say we will not be able to fill out or roster. the people that would fail such an exam, are the very ones drawn to policing. A college town i know requires all officers have graduated from some college degree program
that alone would be helpfull

Do violent individuals brutalize cops, just so they can brutalize other individuals and expect they will get away with it?

@nedkelly

Wait Ned, have you seen the video yet?
They beat him with his hands being held behind his back.
Over a traffic stop.

@calicuz Yes, it was disgusting and it reminded me of the Rodney King bashing. I was shocked to see the police officers were all black bashing one of there own. Imagine the outcry if it was all white police officers - still disturbing

@nedkelly

I know, it was horribly disgusting.

Yes.
It's like any other criminal. If you want to be the best criminal or even dick head you go where you have the best opportunities to be able to indulge with least resistance.

I had 6 cops beat the hell out of me and a buddy in the early '90's.
We were in a band and it was in red necks vill Florida. Me and the drummer had a little scuffle and they swarmed us. While they were kicking and punching us one of them pulled me out of the pile and cuffed me. Then he beat me in the head with his mag light.

That kind of shit happens all the time.
Remember Rodney King??
The profession doesn't attract non violent types.

I'm beginning to believe that there are individuals who want to feel what it's like to kill another human being, but don't want to be punished for the crime of murder, and they do in fact become police officers and bide thier time until an opportunity presents itself.
I think a lot of them do.

There are a lot of problems with policeing in the us
The most violent people I've known were criminals, not cops. I knew a fair number of cops, and they were anything but violent people and hated violence. That doesn't mean that someone who deals with people at their worse can't crack, and I've heard stories.

Of course. Some do.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I believe some join for than reason and the military style training is not making it any better
Most cops got bullied in high school. That’s a known fact
