Not looking for trolls.. but.. did anyone else think that Trump was going to pardon Snowden?

I was kind of hoping that when Trump got elected that Edward Snowden was finally going to be able to come home. But I saw some where that Trump sees him as a traitor. How do you feel about this subject?

I think there might be some hope in January, but it's hard to say. I saw Snowden's most recent interview, and he makes a fair case for himself: it's been years since his leak, and there is no evidence that any negative effects came about as a result of his actions. I would like to see him pardoned. We need more laws protecting whistle blowers.

I agree. I mean the NSA was snooping on everyone. All he did was point a finger at it. Otherwise it would still be going on and no one would know.

That's the big thing for me. He's only in this position due to the nature of the contract he was under. Had he been a full government employee, he'd already be protected under whistle-blower status and it wouldn't be an issue. If he was a civilian working for a private business, same thing. But as a civilian contractor with the government, he falls into a grey zone where no laws have been passed for protection. On that level alone, prosecuting him doesn't pass the smell test and a pardon is warranted.

@SimplyTracie: Oh Yeah. It's just the nature of the beast. I just wanted Snowden to come back home. I guess I feel sorry for him. He was acting with in the boundaries of his conscience .
