For the Good of the Country, Dems Shouldn't Allow Jordan to Become Speaker.

Let the Republicans cause all sort of self-inflicted wounds upon themselves but if the alternative to McCarthy is Jordan, enough of them should vote "present" to allow McCarthy to win.

BONUS: McCarthy will probably deny committee seats to his enemies. Adam Schiff should demand to keep his coommittee assignments as part of the deal. That will infuriate even more GOP members.

But a weak Speaker McCarthy would be better than coup-plotting traitors like Jordan.

A better option would be for Democrats to make an agreement with six moderate Republicans to install another moderate Republican as speaker. Committee assignments could be part of the deal.
@windinhishair And an agreement on the debt ceiling.

@SomeMichGuy That could absolutely be part of it.

Looks like McCarthy will fall short on ballot 7. Already 17 Republicans have voted for someone else, including Matt Gaetz's vote for Trump.
@windinhishair I guess "voting for people not even eligible" *IS* allowed.

Talk about doubling...no, billioning-down on the Trump nonsense! smh

@SomeMichGuy The Speaker does not have to be a member of the House, so Trump IS eligible.
@windinhishair Hmmmm...odd, but true. No elected Speaker has been an outsider, but it is not prohibited.

@SomeMichGuy Yes. We are in uncharted territory here.
