You see mild nudity being taken down repeatedly but users like Sunsporter use racist slurs even in the title of their posts repeatedly and as near as I can tell there has never been any response from the Mods on this. He is also not the only one. In fact he has one such post up in the politics section right now.

As for nudes I can assure you there are 1000’s if not 10,000s of nudes posted and not removed. Only ones that are gross or show sex acts have they forced to be removed.

And I am sure with a site of any size there is still some that are up. But I know at least one person on my friends list who posts very tame pictures of themselves that have had all of their pictures taken down repeatedly. So it is definitely not just "gross" or sex acts.

But it does fit with a larger cultural bias. A friend of mine from Croatia pointed out that he doesn't understand how so much violence and gore is totally acceptable on mainstream TV but as soon as you see a pair of breasts everyone loses their minds.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I think it’s way overstated. They never taking down boob pictures here. They are overly strict on penis. I got warned on that and just stopped posting guys. The rule is genitals can not be the focus of the picture. But no restrictions on boobs at all. Only other thing I have been reprimanded for is forgetting to label a picture as nudity. But boobs? I have posted a thousand.

@AnneHoney I see it all the time. It is definitely not overstated. My guess is the only reason you haven't had yours taken down is because you haven't annoyed someone enough to report you. But it happens all the time.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow they may have auto removal based on a certain number of complaints. I have had maybe a dozen pictures removed and my ac.count suspended 4 or 5 tImes over the last Five plus years. Most were either an erection or the vagina was too predominant and one the girl was holding the guys penis casually. But none for just boobs.

@AnneHoney The point is I find it silly that any of this is considered offensive. Whereas spreading hate that results in violence and sometimes deaths is totally kosher.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow speech is free that means no one is in charge of deciding what is hate speech. I clearly am open about nudity but certain companies will not support sites that allow porn. So they draw the line or lose their server or credit cards refuse to service them.

@AnneHoney Free speech has nothing to do with it. Your own post proves that. It is about money and catering to advertisers. But it is entirely keeping with American puritanical morality which the fact it still exists is somewhat comical.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow there was no freedom of speech or choice in Germany. They had more what you suggest we do and have someone decide what people can say. Freedom of speech is one of the most important things in our constitution. Not freedom to say what you like or I like. Look up the Supreme Court decision to allow nazis and kKK to March in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood in Skokie Illinois. It is far more dangerous to deny speech than have hate speech.

You speak of the 1st Amendment but based on how you apply it here clearly you have no clue what it was about. It had nothing to do with fascists getting a pass on anything they say without consequences.


And the SCOTUS also at one point ruled black people were not fully human. An appeal to authority fallacy is not really helping here.


And the idea that shutting up dangerous ideas is more dangerous we literally have decades of proof that that is not the case.


Carl Schmitt famously pointed out how extremists weaponize and exploit the rights and freedoms of liberal democracy to undermine it and to attack others. He also rather infamously joined the NSDAP later on.

And no SCOTUS did not decide that. Congress led by northern states decided slaves were not to be counted as a whole human so that they would not give southern states an edge in congress.

Of course freedom of speech applies to things we don’t agree with. That is the most important reason it’s in the Bill of Rights.

The 1st amendment which you referred to applies exclusively to protecting you from retaliation from the government for your speech. That doesn't apply here.

And you might want to actually learn what freedom of speech means in the context of the bill of rights before going off on people. 😂


Free speech is not a blanket removal of all consequences for your words.
