House Select Committee Approves Release Of Trump Taxes To Public

I think this may be setting a bad precedent. Does the public need to know? It's a tradition for all candidates to release their taxes, and final candidates from the two main parties have done so, ever since I can remember, with the exception of Trump, but I don't think the committee should do so.

It's no secret that Trump has not told one word of truth in his entire public life, so what's the point? It will show he is not the shrewd businessman he makes himself to be? It's not like his followers are going to be reading the publicly released information on CNN or the WaPo and it's not like Fox and the Truth network will publish them. But hey, for shits and giggles, let's see if Musk is going to release them, just like he did the Twitter Files. Transparency, right?

After all, Trump said he's the most transparent President ever. By far. The biggest transparent whatever.

I'm not Mr Trumps biggest fan but I don't see the point.
I don't understand that tradition. Why do people who were elected president are supposed to publish their tax assessment?? Why is someone's tax assessment other people's business? 😐

@helenS Because the people need to know if there president has any ties to foreign governments and if he is wealthy enough that he would not be coerced by outside money , how every the things that the presidents give the public is only there personal not there business dealings or how much they have as a corporation .

@olderuncle944 Yes I get that. But - I don't know, I see it as an invasion of a person's privacy.

The President of the USA, is not a private citizen. He has some privacy rights, but not when it comes to his financial affairs. The IRS regularly audits his taxes, to make sure he's "clean". The IRS needs to explain why it did not audit him.
