Anatomy of normalization

Republican Rep. Dave Joyce, the chair of the influential Republican Governance Group in the House, just said of Trump’s call to suspend the US Constitution: "I will support whoever the Republican nominee is.

“That's a remarkable statement," said interviewer George Stephanopoulos. "You just said you'd support a candidate who's come out for suspending the Constitution."

"Well, you know, he says a lot of things," Joyce said. "I can't be really chasing every one of these crazy statements that come out about from any of these candidates at the moment."

I actually saw this interview as it aired this morning. I'll start by saying I'm a conservative. And I felt Joyce was baited into what was said. That being said, I read that Trump did say this on Truth Social yesterday. Being a conservative, even I wish Trump would just shut up and slide into the background. So far that he wouldn't be seen or heard from again.

@SW-User Hey, there we go. Trump is uniting liberals and conservatives at last. 😆😆😆

@SW-User It's just that you are a conservative, whereas Mr. Trump and those other mobsters are not.

@SW-User Joyce and other GOP politicians are being complicit with their silence on Trump and his vocal supporters, therefore they are assisting Donald Trump’s regime. Asking a clear question is not baiting.

And they call liberals sheep. 🙄

Good grief!! However it’s no surprise since this is how the GOP gaslights the public. The pattern is, it will be repeated by the GOP 4 times in succession, which with the lower IQ level voters will convince themselves it’s the only way to go, and when the GOP fully takes over again within 1.5 months we will have no constitution and will have a dictatorship in office until his death, then his son will take over. Obviously we need to stop this.

@beckyromero I still believe the American republic is supported by the vast majority of citizens, and it will survive the current attack.
Everybody has to keep in mind that republics are not immortal, and they are historically an exception. Despotism has always been the rule.

@helenS history repeats itself every time

Pieces of shit....
Your title on this couldn't possibly be more perfect.

There you go. There's proof these people legitimately do not care about the Constitution. They just want a demagogue to tell them what to do.
