This election was the best thing that could happen to Republicans

1) Winning back the House enables Repulicans to block Biden's catastrophic big brother legislation as well as to set some of the legislative agenda. It also allows for hearings on some of the misdeeds of the current administration.

2) When the shit hits the fan over the Biden policies the Democrats won't be able to blame a Republican congress. The Republicans were not the "dog that caught the car".

3) Trump was seriously damaged. The Trump mystique, to the extent it still existed, may now be gone. This will allow serious Republican candidates to emerge and compete using conservative ideas to bring our society back to sanity.

Happy trolling! 😋

@irishmolly72 says
Time will tell what's fantasy and what's reality.
I wonder if people recognize the fantasies Trump ran on and got elected on. Remember when Trump
* Promised a tax cut that pays for itself;
* Promised to replace Obamacare with something better and cheaper that covers everyone;
* Promised a trillion dollars worth of infrastructure spending;
* Promised "We're going to see economic growth of 4, 5 & maybe 6%!";
* Promised to reduce deficit and eventually balance the budget;
* Promised he had made the world safe from Kim Jong Un's missiles;
* Promised to LOCK HER UP!
* Promised to make Mexico pay for that wall;
* Promised to release his tax returns;

All those promises turned out to be fantasies. Will republicans' failure to be realistic about or question those fantasies harm them in any way?

Update

And then there are the fantasies Trump more or less adopted, like Qanon, "deep state" and "stolen election." Do you suppose those fantasies could have a deleterious effect on future republican administrations?

@ElwoodBlues Did you see the clip of his announcement when people were trying to leave and weren't allowed to? In the background Trump was saying, "We built the wall."
So for millions, the wall is built. That's all it takes.

@ElwoodBlues As I said ... Happy trolling!

@ElwoodBlues Biden's only accomplishment:

$31.3 trillion National debt. Care to count along? I know Trump isn't blameless either. I'm not much of a Trump fan either.
@irishmolly72 Trump added nearly $4 trillion to the national debt in just a single year!!

BTW, remember when Trump promised $1 trillion in infrastructure spending?? Biden got it done!!

@ElwoodBlues Trump had Covid to deal with. Biden's "infrastructure" bill was basically a woke boondoggle. It's a giant nothing-burger.

Trump's saving of the economy and his Operation Warp Speed will go down in history as among his greatest achievements. Biden's contribution has been.... well ummm.... inflation. 😕
@irishmolly72
Trump had Covid to deal with.
And he did a TERRIBLE job!!!

Our Covid per capita death rate all thru 2020 was DOUBLE that of countries like Canada & Germany, resulting in 550,000 deaths under Trump.

If Trump had handled Covid as well as, say, Justin Trudeau, we'd have had 275,000 FEWER DEATHS! Put another way, Trump's mis-management of Covid cost more deaths than THREE Viet Nam wars!! Three Viet Nams in a SINGLE YEAR, not spread out over ten years like the actual war!!!

Sure, Covid came from outside. And different leaders in different countries managed it differently. Trump's piss-poor Covid management is made clear by the relative per capita death rates.

"I look at it this way," Birx told CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta. "The first time, we have an excuse. There were about 100,000 deaths that came from that original surge. All of the rest of them, in my mind, could have been mitigated or decreased substantially."

The self-described "choose life" party, sadly, sure did end up choosing a LOT of death.

@ElwoodBlues What about the "fantasy" that Europe is addicted to Russian oil and gas. Oops!
@irishmolly72 Moving the goalposts are we?? LOL!!!

Trump ran on a pile of absurd promises that I listed above. He coasted on Obama's good economy until a real problem arose - Covid. Different leaders in different countries managed Covid differently. Trump's piss-poor Covid management is made clear by the relative per capita death rates.

Those are my points. That's what I demonstrated. Feel free to create new goalposts and move them all over your field.
