So the White House put out a tweet bragging about the increase in social security payments under President Biden's leadership, the increase is automatic when inflation goes up and was written into law under President Nixon.

I mean, he did cause inflation, which is the reason the increase kicked in, right?

@Mcmarie90 Inflation has nothing to do with Biden. It is caused by corporate greed.
@Mcmarie90 valid point 👍

@Mcmarie90 How on Earth do you figure Biden caused inflation? Tell me what he could have done to cause that?
@hunkalove why was he bragging about increasing social security payments if inflation has nothing to do with him? The payments increase depending on cost of living which is tied to inflation. He had nothing to do with them increasing but his staff is so desperate for good news they to try to spin bad news into Good News
@Mcmarie90 It's amazing how Biden is able to cause even worse inflation in other countries.

@hunkalove The Biden administration’s Council of Economic Advisers Chair Cecilia Rouse said that Americans will experience inflation because President Joe Biden, a Democrat, has been spending a massive amount of money.

Adjusting for the rate of inflation, Biden’s proposed $6 trillion in spending through his first 100 days in office is “more than six times what the nation spent to get us out of the Great Depression in the 1930s.”

@RuyLopez Spending was much higher under Trump, so the inflation we're seeing now is the reaction to that. Printing money leads to inflation, as demonstrated in prewar Germany, Zimbabwe, and other places.

@LeopoldBloom Refer to chart and video referenced above. Agreed, however Trump spent because of covid lockdowns. Bidens spending was arguably unnecessary and was widely predicted, by his own appointees no less, to result in greatly increasing inflation. If you won’t read the charts or watch videos provided you are not open to learn anything that might challenge your world view so why bother.
@RuyLopez Typical. Everything bad under Trump wasn't his fault; everything bad under Biden is only his fault. Government spending has been cut under Biden. The inflation didn't happen instantly; it took a while for the effect to percolate through the economy along with increased post-pandemic demand combined with supply chain issues.

Unless you think Biden is president of Earth, how do you explain high inflation around the world, in many countries worse than it is here? Try to put aside the confirmation bias and think critically for a change.

@LeopoldBloom Good advise you should try it. I am going by the data. You are using conjecture.
@RuyLopez You're going by confirmation bias.
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom You’ve got nothing.
@RuyLopez I'm going by the data. Inflation is worse in other countries. Biden has nothing to do with it.
