What does it mean?

Simply means when people use it in a derogatory comment they are getting their information from other sources.

Investigate further and it’s usually the Qanon rabbit hole.

I don't think there's a single informative TV news outlet. In their rush to cram in another commercial for BP meds, they leave out an awful lot. Caveat Emptor. Get your news from several sources and draw your own conclusion. Everyone is biased af.
@uncalled4 you should have stopped with “I don’t think” it would have been just as clear

@Ryderbike Impressive retort. But, I don't have to do anything. I've worked in TV since the 80s. I've forgotten more than you'll ever know about the subject. I've been aligned with the so-called MSM for years. And no, I'm not a Qanon supporter in any way. I still think it's important to think for oneself. No tinfoil hat required.
@uncalled4 think for your self based on what? Your imagination?

That’s like saying I don’t trust doctors so I will do my own heart surgery.

@Ryderbike Um, NEVER said that last thing.

I check out a bunch of mainstream sources and draw my own conclusions. Not all the coverage is the same. For Covid info, I consulted Johns Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic. You know, things that people with brains do. If you swallow TV news hook, line, and sinker, well, you do you. I mean, you realize it exists to get ratings and sell ad time and not to inform, correct? Or, do you really buy that there's always "breaking news"? Lol.
@uncalled4 I was raised very differently than you. I was taught to find out who I can trust . Pick a journalist and follow them over a long period of time and you can measure their accuracy and fairness in their reporting . Being informed takes effort , lots of effort . If you don’t have proven, trusted sources over a long periods of time then you’re right, you’ll just look for opinions that confirm your bias.

I don’t look for opinions…I look for accurate unbiased journalists and constantly Evaluate their reporting and their integrity .

@Ryderbike Our approaches are different. But I'd rather have the harsh reality than a confirmation bias, and so I'll entertain input from most corners. I certainly don't follow any particular journalist. But you speak the truth, being informed does take time, and my impression is that someone hears or reads something.....and that's as far as their brain will go.
@uncalled4 I agree and further to your point ,so many seem to have no idea what the difference is between a political pundit and a journalist.

@Ryderbike That's a great point. I wish people would stop the incoherent ramblings of pundits as gospel truth. Again, though, people's minds don't stay open enough. Best we can do is gather info the best we can.
