Republicans increasing use of intimidation around ballot boxs

Republicans are resorting to intimidation to dissuade Democrats from voting in some areas.

Clearly these uneducated unemployed Republicans have nothing better to do with their days than hang out near voting stations trying to intimidate voters.

I live in the Northeast, which is a Democratic bastion. Strangely, I’ve never seen Republican intimidation of any type, ever.

I do always see a bunch of old gray hairs, older that I am, chatting, having coffee and extolling the virtues of their candidates.

The only chance any of them would be intimidating would be if one was to suddenly choke on a donut or go into respiratory duress.

I call bullshit.
@Adogslife Same experience in the northeast the last nearly 20 yrs. Same was true when living in democratic areas of the midwest.

@Adogslife Go live in Arizona or Texas, and then you can call bullshit.

@Adogslife OK. But how could you call bullshit over something so easily provable? I mean, the DOJ is now involved, right? There's a reason for that.

@Ynotisay Easy. I’m 62 and have never seen intimidation even once. If you see it in your area, simply notify the police…

Unless you’ve defunded them. Then you’ll need a tin foil hat.

@Adogslife Your statement is like saying "I live in Fort Kent, Maine, and I have never seen a black person discriminated against. That proves that nowhere in America are black people discriminated against."

@Adogslife Yes, only things that I personally experience can be true. Excellent point.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@windinhishair @Human1000 I agree, except that these questions are intended to elicit one’s personal experiences and beliefs.

Thus, per your example, I happen to believe in rampant discrimination- both seen and unseen.

I happen to agree that the US has a drug problem and a problem with gun control, but I’ve never experienced those personally…

I believe that intimidation is infinitesimally small on BOTH sides, just as I believe that Democrat ballot stuffing is a farce. It absolutely did not cause Trump’s loss in 2020.

I also believe in not being triggered by the garbage now being promoted as “news”. We’ve changed to an editorial society and the veracity of much of it is suspect at best.

@Adogslife One of the reasons the intimidation gets attention is that it is on top of voter suppression which has been documented to decrease voter participation on the order of 2-3%. People are seeing now what happens under minority rule, when the government does not reflect the will of the people. We need to stop gerrymandering (on both sides) and make it easy for everyone who is entitled to vote to cast a ballot. People know when the playing field is tilted. I have no doubt that in some of the southern states in particular, voter intimidation is very real. And I have no doubt that it isn't present in many areas of the country. I don't see it in my local area either. But we need to eliminate even the appearance of intimidation if we are going to get back to a system that reflects the will of the voters, whatever that may be.

@Adogslife Fair enough -- the media does tend to focus on one thing too much for advertising. I see it on MSNBC so my side is not perfect. I still maintain Fox is orders of magnitude worse.

@Ynotisay Nope, liberal Republican, that means I can’t stand either Biden or Trump I can’t stand leftist moonbats nor right wing morons.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Adogslife So you're one of the last liberal northeastern Republicans. I haven't seen one in awhile.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@windinhishair Yes, that’s somewhat true. The party is shifting right which is against my beliefs, particularly when it comes to the separation of Church and state.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Adogslife The rightward shift has been so profound that Ronald Reagan would be unelectable today as a Republican, despite being a right-wing politician in his time. And that is in less than a 40 year period. I have relatives that were elected and served as Republicans in the state senate in a northeastern state, and they would be horrified to see what their party has become, were they still living.
