@ididntknow Sworn depositions are not exactly behind closed doors -- both sets of lawyers are present, there is a court recorder and a camera going. It can be and usually is a grueling process with constant huddling between client and lawyer, in case you have never been deposed. Particularly if those being deposed are public figures prone to spin, obfuscate, and otherwise inflate their egos. If they tried to put that on TV only C-SPAN would opt to provide live air time, and their audience would be pretty well limited to those who already have their minds made up.

Granted, there always is danger in a film producer shaping the product by what s/he selects but, it is limited to what was testified to under oath. Putting it on TV at all is an attempt to get the widest audience as possible among those with open minds, so presumably it was a compromise to get as much broad-based airtime as possible.

@dancingtongue it’s all used to produce a narrative, it’s known that it’s a all produced, edited by filmmakers, is that the way courts should be conducted?

And like all hearings, the full report will include the full depositions and full transcripts for those who want to wade through it all, but very few will. And when it comes to editing, how about then Attorney General Barr who edited the public release of the Mueller Report to the point of deleting its conclusion? At least he had finally had enough of trying to feed Trump's ego to testify openly to the January 6 hearings, and to the best of my knowledge not had any complaints about the edited portions shown on the TV reports of the hearings.
