America is just a game board
This week, multiple Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, have admitted the plan is to use the debt ceiling as a threat to slash Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. 66 million Americans get their income from Social Security. 64 million Americans use Medicare for their primary health insurance, and 76 million Americans use Medicaid for healthcare.
Since last week Republicans have been talking about gutting these three critical programs, which they falsely call “entitlements,” despite them being funded through every employed person’s paycheck.
SS is a needs-based program funded by the U.S. Treasury general fund to provide payments to people with limited income and resources who are age 65 or older, blind, or disabled.
The following programs are included:
• Retirement insurance
• Survivors insurance
• Disability insurance
• Hospital and medical insurance for the aged, the disabled, and those with end-stage renal disease;
• Prescription Drug Benefit
• Extra help with Medicare Prescription Drug Costs
• Supplemental Security Income
• Special Veterans Benefits
• Unemployment insurance
• Public assistance and welfare services, including:
o Temporary assistance for needy families
o Medical assistance
o Maternal and child health services
o Child support enforcement
o Family and child welfare services
o Food stamps
o Energy assistance
Helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and home health care. It also:
• Services from doctors and other health care providers
• Outpatient care
• Home health care
• Durable medical equipment (like wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other equipment)
• Many preventive services (like screenings, shots or vaccines, and yearly “Wellness” visits)
Just so we’re exceedingly clear, it’s the Republican Party taking credit for what would be a train wreck for America, making them either buffoons or sociopaths. Despite all their blaming and the bitching of half the country, they have claimed this as their plan for America: To make worse what is already a debacle in the eyes of the world.
