Is She a genius ?

A Mother showed up to a school committee meeting wearing the same outfit a drag queen performer wore on stage in front of school children, the awkward faces on the school committee members was priceless.
She asked them if the outfit was appropriate for any occasion during school.

I showed up at a church in a nun's habit, and people were definitely not happy. Why is it OK for nuns but not me?
@FreeSpirit1 Just trying to make the point that just because an outfit isn't appropriate in a particular context doesn't mean it's never appropriate, especially if someone is wearing it for no reason other than to be as offensive as possible.

I don't get this abject terror conservatives have over this issue. Nobody is "turned gay" by being in proximity to a drag queen any more than white people will turn Black if they live in an integrated neighborhood.

@LeopoldBloom So you are supporting drag queens and porn in grade school.
@LeopoldBloom Turning gay? What are you talking about? She was making a point about the appropriateness of having outrageously dressed drag queens performing in front of kids in school, nothing about ones sexual preference. A man twerking and performing in a thong leotard is not appropriate and she proved it by dressing exactly as He did, and she's a Woman. The looks on their faces proved her point. You just seem like you are reflexively taking the position of the Drag Queen because it's the progressive position. Everyone in that committee meeting got the point.
If the outfit is not appropriate for a school committee meeting of adults it isn't appropriate in front of school kids.
@Confined No, because that's not what's happening.

So you support death or reeducation camps for gay people? I mean, if we're going to accuse each other of bullshit.
@FreeSpirit1 Why is that a problem? From what I hear, kids love it. It's only the parents who have a stick up their ass over it. I'm taking the progressive position on this because it's the right one. You're taking the homophobic position because you think it's required of you as a conservative. And don't tell me "my cousin is gay and we all love him." I'd like to hear your cousin's side first.
@LeopoldBloom homophobic? This is about Drag Queens performing in front of kids. What story are you referring to?
It's the second time you referred to homosexuals, you need to educate yourself, drag queens are drag queens, homosexual men are homosexual men. Why are you dragging gay guys into this? You think all gay guys agree with it?
@FreeSpirit1 I'm aware that drag queens are not necessarily gay, but if you don't think the current conservative hatred of drag queens isn't based in homophobia, you're very naive. Most of the conservatives bleating about this don't know the difference. And the fact that some gay men have an issue with this only shows that some people will take sides with conservatives who would be happy to kill them. There's nothing sadder than a conservative Republican gay man.

This is just the latest focus of conservative outrage of the week. Not that long ago, you were shaking in fear over "caravans" of people from Honduras who never seemed to arrive here for some reason. Then it was trans women in girls' sports. Then the COVID vaccine killing more people than actual COVID. It's like you people aren't happy unless you're afraid of something.
@LeopoldBloom being open-minded and accepting is one thing, trying to figure out what the purpose of drag queens performing in front of children is another. I was once a stripper but I never asked my son's school to let me come and read in a stripper outfit because it makes no sense and is inappropriate,. If you think this is inappropriate you are now labeled a Nazi homophobe bigot etc etc. Kitty says it better than I do. [media=https://youtu.be/fMSZdI2KVko]
@FreeSpirit1 There's a difference between a stripper and a drag queen.

Can you cite any credible, peer-reviewed studies showing that drag queen story hour is harmful? Or are you just following the party line on the latest target for the two minutes hate?
@LeopoldBloom It's inappropriate, if you think it isn't that's fine, most people agree with the Mother in this situation.
And there is very little difference between them, both are entertainment for adults, drag queens is not a lifestyle or sexual orientation, they are preformers.
@FreeSpirit1 If you don't approve of it, don't bring your kids to it. Just like you're free to not bring your kids to church or movies or sporting events or anything else you might disapprove of.

I've never been to a drag queen story hour, but I can't imagine many adults would be entertained by it. It's not The Lady Chablis singing "two tears in a bucket, motherfuck it."
@LeopoldBloom It wasn't story hour, it was a show at a gay straight alliance meeting, the school committee approved of drag queens performing in front of kids. Parents didn't bring their kids, they found out about it because some kids filmed it with their phones and showed their parents.
@FreeSpirit1 Didn't she dress that way as a form of protest? "If it's inappropriate here, it's inappropriate everywhere"
@LeopoldBloom She was just showing them what they approved because It was obvious they had no idea, what looks good on paper ends up being some weird dude twerking his ass in front of kids. I'm sure not a single commetee member attended the event, parents wouldn't have known without some kids filming it.
@FreeSpirit1 I'd like to see some credible source explaining what the original event was. "Drag queen story hour" is the conservative two minutes hate right now, so my initial impression is some Karen got her panties in a bunch over nothing.
@LeopoldBloom it wasn't story hour it was a gay straight alliance event. Drag queens want to get their foot in the rainbow umbrella but it's backfiring with things like this.
@FreeSpirit1 How old were the kids?
@LeopoldBloom I'm pretty sure they were 9th to 12grade , because they don't usually have sexual identity groups for kids younger than that.
@FreeSpirit1 That's plenty old enough, in fact that's the age when it's important for kids to have good information and support about gender identity. I thought these were elementary school age. These are high schoolers. Do you have any idea what they are seeing on their phones? I'm sure whatever they saw at school was tame in comparison.
@LeopoldBloom I get that you think it's fine, you don't have to keep trying to convince me, I was just answering your question, also remember the people who took the videos and showed others were kids in the gay straight alliance so everyone doesn't think like you, they don't anyway. If they thought it was fine they wouldn't post videos with WTF? Under it. Drag Queens have zero to do with a gay straight alliance group of high schoolers.
@FreeSpirit1 Fine, let's get all worked up over one incident that someone took advantage of. Some conservatives don't think Jan. 6 was a big deal because it only happened once.
@LeopoldBloom I have no idea what some conservatives think about Jan 6 has to do with this topic but thanks for your input.
@FreeSpirit1 I'm pointing out an incident that many conservatives think liberals are blowing out of proportion. I feel the same way about the event you described. Who cares if some lady dresses up in drag to protest something that happened at the school? Fine, something happened that offended some people, so one of them went out of her way to offend some other people.
@LeopoldBloom She didn't dress up in drag. She wore the exact outfit a man wore while performing in front of kids . She looked super inappropriate in front of the committee and that was the point. They ok'd the show and she showed them what they ok'd.
