DeSantis Issues DANGEROUS WARNING

You see, Florida is a Second Amendment State and citizens have the right to shoot looters.

The state will back him up too. He pulled no punches at a press conference. “At the end of the day, we are not going to allow lawlessness to take advantage of this situation. We are a law-and-order state, and this is a law-and-order community, so do not think that you’re going to go take advantage of people who’ve suffered misfortune.”

DeSantis mentioned what people have done to secure their properties- “They boarded up all the businesses, and there are people that wrote on their plywood, ‘you loot, we shoot.” DeSantis continued. “At the end of the day, we are not going to allow lawlessness to take advantage of this situation. We are a law-and-order state, and this is a law-and-order community, so do not think that you’re going to go take advantage of people who’ve suffered misfortune.”

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno echoed, “We are not going to tolerate — and I mean zero tolerance — when we say anyone that thinks they’re going to thrive on the residents of this county or state when we just took a horrific hit, I can guarantee you that is not going to happen.”

At a later event DeSantis “told Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie that the state could provide support in the event of people bringing boats to try to ‘ransack’ homes on islands that have been isolated from the mainland.” He emphasized, “I can tell you, in the state of Florida, you never know what may be lurking behind somebody’s home. I would not want to chance that if I were you, given that we’re a Second Amendment state.”

“Florida will not tolerate looters taking advantage of #HurricaneIan to prey on vulnerable Floridians. They will be arrested and I have asked state attorneys to seek the longest pretrial detention possible to keep them locked up so they cannot commit new crimes.”

It's about time. Where did this mindset come from that we are supposed to just lay down and let looters, robbers, and murderers have their way over us?
@Riverman2 That mindset never existed. Glad I could clear that up for you.

@ElwoodBlues So why is there do much complaining about the governor of Florida?
@Riverman2 There are PLENTY of reasons to object to DeSantis without wanting to "just lay down and let looters, robbers, and murderers have their way over us." Some people might object to him simply because he's a professional politician with no business experience who has gotten government paychecks almost his entire working life. Some might object to "small government" advocate weaponizing government against folks like Disney who object to some of his political maneuvers.

But my objection has to do with excess deaths of Florida citizens. DeSantis politicized Covid vaccination and refused to say whether he himself has been vaccinated. This led to much lower vaccination rates in Florida.
According to one study done last fall by the British medical journal The Lancet, if Florida had achieved the vaccination rates seen in states like Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine, more than 22,000 lives could have been saved.
22,000 excess deaths in FL - that's nothing to sneeze at!!

@ElwoodBlues LOL, and the current resident of the white house has how much business experience?
Riverman2 · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues Yet you criticize me for wanting us to protect ourselves against criminals. Geesh.

@Riverman2 Logical liberal is an oxymoron
@Riverman2 Where did I criticize you??
Riverman2 · 56-60, M
@ElwoodBlues Oh don't pretend for even a second that you were not trying to ridicule with your very first reply. Then in you second you wrote a lengthy tirade about nothing that had anything to do with my comment. I am happy to discuss things maturely woth anyone but not with someone disingenuous. Go yell at someone who will listen
Bye.

Sorry, dude, I seem to have been too subtle for you to follow. I'll try to unpack it for you using simple words.

I said SOME people might object to him simply because he's a professional politician with no business experience who has gotten government paychecks almost his entire working life. And at the end I stated MY objection.

To quick thinkers, this conveys that 'professional politician' isn't MY objection, but you missed that inference.

See, it's actually a subtle dig at those who criticize BIDEN for being 'a professional politician with no business experience' yet have no problem with DeSantis' being the same. Do you get it now that I've unpacked it for you??

@ElwoodBlues Just like all those working for the current administration with decades of business experience, eh?
@sunsporter1649 See, it's actually a subtle dig at those who criticize BIDEN for being 'a professional politician with no business experience' yet have no problem with DeSantis' being the same. But you still don't get it even though I've unpacked it for you, LOL!!!

@ElwoodBlues And of course you believe that, right? But then again, you believe hunters laptop was ruskie disinformation, so you will believe most anything
@sunsporter1649 Higher vaccination rates produce lower death rates everywhere - even in Florida!!!
