Now I honestly can see the problem with infidelity but the idea that it has consequences beyond maybe getting dumped or divorced is something i'm against.

There are consequences to actions. In this case there are consequences to being a public figure doing something immoral.
They are a brand and a very public one. They decided that Ned's actions are not something they want their brand associated with.
The fact is that when you're the face of something then your personal life can and will impact how suitable you are for that position.
