My grandfather was a big-time democrat with a political plum government job. He was friends with Wilbur Mills. They went hunting together and Wilbur invited him and my mom to one of JFK's inaugural balls. Grandpa was retired from the government by the time Wilbur's star fell into the Potomac from Fannie Fox's limousine.
