From the party of law and order

Or was it the party of transparency? Or the party of patriotism? Democracy? The party of Dark Money? Oh, never mind:

Senate Republicans filibustered the popular DISCLOSE Act, which seeks to expose the super-wealthy donors who are spending unlimited amounts of undisclosed money to ensure that the U.S. government advances their interests at the expense of the vast majority.

...After all 49 of his GOP colleagues in attendance voted to prevent debate on the legislation endorsed by President Joe Biden, Whitehouse released a statement slamming right-wing lawmakers for fighting to preserve "dark money's poisonous influence over American democracy."

That's the system. Capitalism has to be addressed. That's a Marxist view. Murka not face. Murka kill everything!
@Roundandroundwego In countries in the commonwealth at least most capitalists have to try and influence politicians before or after elections.

American elections are basically auctions.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow yup. Snide conservatives don't engage in politics and everyone else follows their lead. So Idiocracy wins.

This legislation is designed to prevent the ability of the country to find out the shenanigans of the far left.

It's being called the silence free campaign speech act in my circles.

We already have strict campaign finance reporting laws on the books.

They wanna dox union members and members of the working class so they can sigg their antifa/blm/ radicals on people.

This is a no go.

@SteelHands Whatever the party tells you to help you sleep at night.

We just passed legislation here to get all those loud, crazy car sounds off the road - yay! Except we used it to silence protesters that weekend, which is why it was really resurrected.

This looks bad for them because it is bad for them. Your contentions don't even make sense.
Most of what is in the bill likely won't do much. The exact same info has been available for years through Open Secrets. Democracy is a participation sport that many people barely do the minimum.

The bit about requiring donor info at the end of TV ads might have an impact though. And that is something new.

Dark money is definitely a Republican only issue. I’m sure many Dems breathed a sign of relief at that one , kinda like your enemy doing the dirty work for you .

Politics is so boring. I'm so over it all. 🙄😖

Wait, you mean to say that the Republicans don't want people to know who's pulling their strings? Color me shocked.
