Wait, so DeSantis is paying big money to fly TEXAS migrants to Martha's Vinyard?
So this confirms to me that this is all a show, because apparently Florida did not have 50 of their own migrants to send. So, all this whining from Florida about people seeking asylum is a load of crap. DeSantis and right wing media are manufacturing a problem to get people all whipped up .
If I was a Florida tax payer, I would be quite pissed off.

Illegal immigrants are costing US taxpayers more than $300 billion each year and the cost is rising. DeSantis was right to get the attention of rich and comfortable Americans who have remained largely aloof from the problems that open borders policies are creating for Americans.
@marke So, you’re complaining about the cost, but you’re also congratulating DeSantis for spending approximately 12 million dollars of Florida taxpayer money on migrants from Texas ? Why didn’t he scoop up some of the Cuban migrants right there in Florida ? Are they costing the state less ?
@bijouxbroussard DeSantis spent $12 million to try to put a stop to a crisis that is already costing US taxpayers more than $300 billion a year? He is a genius.
@marke This is based on a distorted view of a “crisis” that does not exist, it’s all propaganda and is a narrow, racist view of society.. DeSantis is a hateful, cruel person with no respect for the law.
@marke there is no crisis it’s all GOP talking points. It should also be noted that the group of victims DeSantis lured were not illegal immigrants, they were here legally as asylum seekers.
Democrats opened the southern US border to illegal immigration several decades ago after finding the illegals useful in illegally boosting democrat votes in elections. The initial policy has now become permanently protected by democrats as they usher millions of illegals into the country as "asylum seekers." Millions of jobless asylum seekers are now costing the US taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars to care for even as homeless Americans are turning major US cities into disease and crime-ridden slums for lack of proper resources to address the growing problem.
@BackyardShaman Potentially thousands of illegal immigrants voted for Loretta Sanchez in 1996, just barely giving her the win over Bob Dorn in California. Congress conducted an investigation and found irrefutable proof that hundreds of illegal votes for Sanchez were cast by illegals, but Congress stopped short of investigating further, even though admitting there was a good possibility that many thousands of illegal votes were cast for Sanchez.
Wikipedia
In 1996, Sanchez ran for the US House in California's 46th District against six-term Republican incumbent Bob Dornan. The bitterly fought race saw Sanchez charge that Dornan was out of touch with his constituency, especially after a distracting run for the 1996 Republican presidential nomination. The 46th and its predecessors had always had a Democratic tilt, but became even more Democratic after the 1990 census when it absorbed a considerably larger number of Hispanics than had previously been in the district. Sanchez won by 984 votes, and Dornan contested the election, alleging that many votes were cast by people who were not American citizens.
A 16-month Congressional investigation found some evidence that 624 votes were indeed cast illegally (of which 84 votes were cast by newly naturalized citizens on the actual date of the election who had registered before their naturalization, which is not allowed under California law). An additional 124 flawed absentee votes had already been thrown out by California officials.[35]

How did that "bring a stop" to anything ? The migrants are in this country, still, free to live wherever they want, because—guess what— Hyannis is still in the U.S. And since this was the same stunt segregationists used, people now know that DeSantis is a racist (if they didn’t before). So he threw away $12 million of the taxpayers’ money trying to "make a statement" about migrants from Mexico and Central America (while still having undocumented Cuban immigrants in his own state). It’s hypocrisy, and it accomplished NADA. 🤨
I get tired of leftist racists falsely accusing whites of being racists. Democrats are to blame for that false racist narrative and democrats are to blame for pretending that illegal immigration is not a crisis and that even if it was a crisis it is the fault of republicans.
@marke The truth hurts, alas…I get it. But I’m tired of people who are so delusional that they ignore the facts— the head of today’s KKK (Thom Robb) is a staunch Republican. And DeSantis targeting migrants from specific areas while being afraid to go after the ones in his own state, because of ethnicity, can hardly be called anything else. Educate yourself. Whatever the Southern Democrats (or "Dixiecrats") did in the last century, the GOP, especially the MAGA faction, is the proud face of racism now. That’s why they’re so strongly represented by white supremacist groups now.
Southern democrats seceded from the Union in an effort to preserve slavery. Tens of thousands of republicans fought and died in the Civil War to free the slaves. Democrats invented the KKK to resist black integration into society. KKK members murdered blacks by the democrat majority rule in direct violation of rules by God and the US Constitution of the American republic.
Today we see kooks joining the KKK but committing no crimes. We also see kooks supporting democrats killing cops, attempting to assassinate SCOTUS justices, attempting to murder republicans on the ball field, running over republicans with their cars because they wrongly imagine republicans are evil terrorists, and so forth. Go figger.
@marke You’re still talking about the Republicans from over a century ago. Newsflash, that’s not who you are now. You ran all your progressives and liberals (who were the northern abolitionists) out of your party after the Civil Rights era. Why else do you think there are Confederate flags (the people who approved of slavery and segregation) at Trump rallies ? Why would the "Party of Lincoln" be flying the flag that represents the traitors who assassinated him ?
@bijouxbroussard An American (probably a Trump supporter who also is willing to show public condemnation of democrat racists who claim American statues, laws, values, and traditions leftists do not like are racist) exercising his Constitutional right of free speech.
@marke While carrying a flag that only exists because people in several states seceded from the union, fought and died to keep black people as slaves, and who assassinated the POTUS who would free them.
It also appeared during the days of the Civil Rights movement, flown by segregationists who were fighting against Martin Luther King, Jr.
Btw, when he was assassinated, several white Southerners waved those flags in celebration. 🥺 Remember that ? I sure do.
That’s what that flag represents, and that is why white supremacists fly them at their rallies.
Speaking of "free speech”, did you know Republicans don’t want that history taught about now ? DeSantis is among those who legislated against telling the truth about our history.
@bijouxbroussard My mom attended Little Rock High and her sister was a senior there the year the Republican President had to send in Army troops to force the democrats to allow the school to be integrated. My aunt was not a racist white person but the democrats in charge were.
@bijouxbroussard Why are people still honoring MLK? He's been dead for 50 years. Let people honor their heroes. How would denying them that right hurt others?
@bijouxbroussard Democrats push the false racist narrative for impure political reasons. Hardly any American whites are "White supremacists" but a growing number of blacks, thanks to the impure democrat narratives, are becoming convinced whites are racist by nature. Sadly, such erroneous opinions are in fact racist towards whites, and yet the poor and ignorant do not seem capable of understanding that clear and simple fact.
@marke Anyone who is still waving the flag that only exists as a symbol of slavery and segregation is a white supremacist. You said, that’s what they "honor". Period. Like it or not.
