Trump was wrong to claim Mexico was going to pay for the wall, and the American people are wrong if they think democrats want to stop the incoming flood of illegal aliens that are driving taxpayer costs for their care into the hundreds of billions of dollars per year.

The only reason tRump wanted to build a wall was to make himself and his cronies even richer by skimming and scamming monies from the building of the wall and that's exactly what happened. $15B to build 458 miles of wall, $33M per mile or $6300 per foot of wall? They could put an armed guard every 10 feet along the whole border for cheaper than building that little section of wall 🥴

In more than 40 years as a business owner, I hired quite a few illegal immigrants. By hiring illegals I was breaking the law, but not minimum wage laws because those I hired got just as much as others at their skill level and my workers were all paid more than the going rate for our trade.

I know I broke the law when I hired illegals ten to thirty years ago, but I have also seen big industries raided by government agents within the last few years for hiring illegals. Illegals are not supposed to be working in the US. That is the law.

Immigrants are only "unemployable" if we make laws that do that. Many of them are willing to do the menial jobs our own citizens don't want to do so why should we refuse them Citizenship if they are willing to work and be tax paying members of our society?

I am in favor of passing laws that allow illegals to work legally, but Congress seems unable to get that done.

@marke That's because Congress is ruled by Republicans who hate immigrants, many of them don't even realize that most of us ARE immigrants in one form or another at some point, very few here are direct descendants of Native Americans and even they were immigrants at some point long ago...

Even if Congress legalized immigrants who come here illegally, Congress will not likely be able to find all those people jobs so they can be taken off the welfare rolls. Many immigrants, like many American citizens, may not want to be taken off the welfare rolls and made to go to work.

@marke Wow, that's about as racist a statement as I've read, assuming that the majority of them would be on the "welfare rolls", I'm pretty sure that given the opportunity and a decent living wage that most of them would want to work. Those laws could be to include that if they are on welfare for more than 3 months, we send them back but we have to give them a chance at least...

When republicans try to help immigrants the democrats accuse them of showboating. When democrats hurt immigrants they accuse republicans of being racist.

@marke Democrat or Republican matters little to the poor immigrants just trying to survive and have a better life than they had in their own Country. Regardless of political affiliation, what DoucheSantis did by lying to these people is reprehensible and indefensible too and I would say the exact same thing if he were a Democrat and had done this.

Democrats hate DeSantis because he is more popular than democrats. They falsely accuse him of mistreating migrants encouraged to enter the US under false pretenses in order to get free welfare money to live on. If anyone is lying to the immigrants it is the democrats who encourage them to enter the US illegally and find some border state sidewalk to set up their homeless tent on.
