Silly Question, But I Am Not Familiar With Details

First off, RIP Queen Elizabeth, and condolences to all her subjects worldwide, including our Canadian neighbors.

I am not a fan of the monarchy as an institution, but she did not choose her birth circumstances, and by all accounts, she was an empathic and caring person.

One Queen for 13 of our Presidents.

Will Charles be His Highness King Charles III, or will he pick some other name? And what will Camilla be?

If he choose to abdicate, because so many people can't stand his personality, will William become King?

I imagine that President Biden, and some of our former Presidents will be attending the official state funeral.

I just saw a flash news update. Buckingham Palace announced that Charles picked King Charles III as his official name.
@Northwest Wait until the coronation.
@Northwest Yes...it seems he may well have changed his mind.

Hmmm...they said on one report that the coronation could be ~1 yr away.

Camilla will be Queen consort. Queen Elizabeth annouced this during her jubilee celebrations. It is her wish Camilla be Charles consort to support and asdust him as Philip did her.

Charles will be coronated as King Charles III. His wife, Camilla, will be known as the Queen Consort. William will remain prince but I understand some lesser titles will shift among members. If he chose to abdicate, the crown would pass to William, but there's no indication of such a move.

Biden already signed the condolence book at the embassy in D.C. and if available, will definitely attend services.

The monarchy as a ruling system may be archaic, but generations upon generations have lived with it's grandeur and tradition. Queen Elizabeth II may well have been the last vestige of a shifting, if not dying, institution. I celebrate her life for the wisdom, sincerity and grace with which she managed the considerable burden of a crown.

Charles wouldn't choose to abdicate. Full stop. The moment his mother died, however, Charles's eldest son - Prince William - became first in line to the throne.

@ArtieKat I agree. They'll have to wait another 5 years until he dies.
He can choose his regnal name, and has said in the past that he thought Geo. VII was better than Chas. III, since the latter aligns him with

• the English monarch who is part of the Headless Hunt, and

• the English monarch whose treatment of women is more like how Trump treats them.

@SW-User Again...PriWi, if he survives his father's reign, can choose his regnal name.

Wm. Arthur Philip Louis could, like his father, choose to be King Arthur or King Philip...or a King Willy...or a King Louis...

Pretty much my take on it.

Apparently, he chose to go with Charles III. And yes, it would go to William next.
