Jailed Irish Teacher Refuses Student’s Pronoun Demands

Enoch Burke is a devote Christian teacher at Wilson’s Hospital School, Co Westmeath, Ireland.

According to their website, “As part of our High School exchange programme, this school is located just over one hour from Dublin, this 7-day boarding school is a place of personal development where students pursue their studies and form lifelong friendships in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.” Wilson’s is associated with the Church of Ireland.

Burke was put on paid administrative in late August for refusing to address a trans student as “they.” A disciplinary meeting is scheduled for September 14th.

Despite an order barring him from the campus, Burke continued to be present at the school resulting in his arrest for breach of the order.

Personally, I admire the teachers moxie. I also refuse to enable the WOKE.
The non-binary crap is stupid and encourages wrong behavior.

Gender non conformity has existed throughout history in various different cultures. Our view on sex and gender is heavily influenced by christian culture that never showed much respect towards others.
A teacher went out of his way to be disrespectful towards a student. Now the school took action against him and he couldn't accept it.

@SW-User It's the other way around actually, a student went out of their way to show the teacher disrespect by disrespecting his religion, ultimately making him lose his job.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst In what way did they do that?
I believe respecting a humans identity is far easier and more important than respecting ones religious beliefs.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SW-User Use your brain. That's your "belief", much like a religion.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst I didn't deny that although ones identity is part of who someone is and how they present themselves while a religious belief is about a higher power that often is used as an excuse to discriminate against others.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst religion shouldn't play a role in school outside of religion and ethics classes

@SW-User "I want you to call me something because I feel like it, even though it's completely against your beliefs and in your mind might have a divine power look down upon you. If you don't then I'm going to ruin your life. "

How does that sound? Fair? A world you want to live in?
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst Yes because you can put your personal biases aside and just be respectful towards another person. If someone can't do that then they are a piece of shit.

Respectfully - of course.

@MartinTheFirst I would also love to live in a highly secular world that puts Christianity in the dustbin of history where it belongs. It's nothing but a backwards cult
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SW-User Respect goes both ways.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst In what way was the student disrespectful?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SW-User That offends me deeply, I'm sure you didn't give a shit about that. Clearly you only want respect to be dealt out to people like yourself.

@SW-User
In what way was the student disrespectful?
You're giving me aids
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst Yes I want my side to win and see no hope for compromise in the future.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst you're welcome but that's no answer
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SW-User Asking for your side to win is like asking to see the world burn, it will never happen as long as there's a single sane person alive.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst I mean seeing our systems burn down would be neat but that's not tied to the gender debate. I wouldn't call myself sane but neither do I see you as a sane person.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@SW-User I really think it is! A political fire is ongoing right now as you can see from the above image. Teachers, the ones teaching the world, are the ones fighting this battle. TEACHERS 😂!!!
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst That's nothing 😂 Accepting and defending trans students at school is a good byproduct when having slightly left leaning governments in power. Real issues lie in economic structures and power hierachies.
I do beleive that there won't be any middle grounds anymore which makes way for ideological warfare of some sorts.
