He was jailed for attending a place he was forbidden to enter. The rest is his own bullshit. Do the research Mr Transphobic hatred spewer. It's nothing to do with the pronouns. It's all about some religious nut job seeking attention. He'd get a good job in Texas
Gender non conformity has existed throughout history in various different cultures. Our view on sex and gender is heavily influenced by christian culture that never showed much respect towards others. A teacher went out of his way to be disrespectful towards a student. Now the school took action against him and he couldn't accept it.
@MartinTheFirst I mean seeing our systems burn down would be neat but that's not tied to the gender debate. I wouldn't call myself sane but neither do I see you as a sane person.
@SW-User I really think it is! A political fire is ongoing right now as you can see from the above image. Teachers, the ones teaching the world, are the ones fighting this battle. TEACHERS 😂!!!

@MartinTheFirst That's nothing 😂 Accepting and defending trans students at school is a good byproduct when having slightly left leaning governments in power. Real issues lie in economic structures and power hierachies. I do beleive that there won't be any middle grounds anymore which makes way for ideological warfare of some sorts.
He wasn't arrested for speaking his mind, he was arrested for trespassing.
He could've and should've waited for his hearing to give his side and not put students and staff in peril by violating the order to stay clear of the premises.
Thats all fine and dandy and they can apply it to their own life-style. This putz broke the law and did it at housing and schooling facility for children. He's in jail and soon to be unemployed and I'd expect nothing less if my kid was staying there.
Then how do we define a leprechaun? I knew things were going south in Ireland when they banned smoking in pubs! Glad the teacher stood on his principles!
@Vin53 Now, that is a far better argument than the other.
So, let's suppose the school was on fire, or on other danger, should Mr. Burke shrug his shoulders and walk away cuz they told him he's not allowed there?
In this case I side with the Mr. Burke. He has a right to his point of view. I'm a true liberal which means I believe in freedom of speech, even for people I disagree with. To paraphrase Voltaire, " I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
He was not jailed for his Christian beliefs or for refusing to use the pronouns. He was jailed for contempt of court for breaching court orders when placed on administrative leave and restrained from entering the school.
"The teacher continued to attend the school in violation of a court-ordered restraining order" https://checkyourfact.com/2022/09/07/fact-check-irish-teacher-pronouns/
It's not the same thing. If he wants to make a stand on principle he could have continued to do so without breaking the law in contempt of court.
The misleading headlines in these posts and papers are designed to push the outrage button and manipulate. A little fact checking goes a long way to avoid being someone else's stooge.
@Budwick Are you sure? The only times I have heard the term it has been from someone on the right. Still can't figure out what they mean, though. I know it binds their undies.
Corrected spell-check and it wasn't directed at you anyhow.
That being said, this is a legal matter not a theology issue.
If you show up at a children's residence after the law has specifically ordered you NOT to, I expect every single parent of those children would demand you be hauled away to jail, religious motives not withstanding.
@DDaverde There should be movement of protest by all teachers who taught/ teach English. This is not only bastardizing a language, it is contributing to the dumbing down of American education and students.
That's extremely smart of him. The only way they'll get away with their shit is if it goes by unnoticed, because the majority with a brain understand that this is crazy.
Edit after reading the replies to this post: Ugh I've gotta stay away from politics completely, this world is doomed either way.
