Question for Democrats

Let's say you have won every election and totally control all aspects of government. Then what? What will the country be like?

Remember the 1960s? Good roads, good schools, big projects...

More like that.
@SomeMichGuy On November 14 1960, Bridges, six, became the first black student to attend a previously all-white elementary school in New Orleans.

and the police had to escort them to the school .
@markansas Yes, that's the ugly social side.

We're past that...well, most Democrats aren't white supremacists.

But having better roads & schools...and energy from renewable sources
businesses held accountable
education funded
single-payer health care
better transportation
etc., etc., etc.

Looks good to me.
@markansas @SomeMichGuy

Honestly, I think you can thank Ike and the Republicans for both roads and even desegregation to some extent.

Post FDR, at least until Kennedy, the Dems were pretty irrelevant.
@MistyCee THOSE Republicans, yes.

But actually funding good public things is part of the Democratic programme, as well as funding it via rational taxation.
@MistyCee yup thats about when the dems changed into a better party of the people.

@MistyCee I don't know. Truman followed FDR for eight years. He moved the U.S. from war to peace and championed Civil Rights. Pretty successful tenure by most accounts.
@Ynotisay Mebbe, but who the heck remembers Truman?
Ynotisay · M
@MistyCee Can't really answer that. I'd like to think a whole lot of black people and workers remember him. That's outside of every American at the time who saw WW2 end. Bet the Japanese remember him too. Probably a little differently though.
@MistyCee
Mebbe, but who the heck remembers Truman?
The decendents of DEWEY!!!

@MistyCee Who remembers Truman? Anyone who reads history? (Yeah, I was alive when he was President, but too young to remember him. The first I remember is Eisenhower.)
@SomeMichGuy in 1967 we went to schools in New Portables. Temporary class rooms. They're still in use. Ours wasn't a wanted generation.
@Roundandroundwego Sorry you did. Which state was that. It wasn't what happened for me.
