For a glimpse, let's consult the historical record: "From 1952 through June 2020, annualized real stock market returns under Democrats have been 10.6% compared with 4.8% for Republicans." https://www.forbes.com/sites/sergeiklebnikov/2020/07/23/historical-stock-market-returns-under-every-us-president/#51469926faaf
That's right. Democrats are better for the economy. MUCH better. Deal with it.
@boudinMan Funny thing: among other problems that occurred under Trump, 22,000,000 US jobs were lost in 2020. Now you guys don't blame Trump for that, those losses were due to the pandemic. Fair enough. Just like you don't blame Trump for $4 trillion in deficit spending in 2020. Pandemic. Fair enough.
The funny thing is that you guys are simply UNABLE to imagine there would be further economic consequences of those 22 million lost jobs and all those trillions of dollars in deficit spending. Completely beyond your ability to comprehend, hence your phrase
@ElwoodBlues you're right, there would have been further economic consequences if the dims had been in power during the pandemic. why? because they would have gone much further in shutting down the economy. trump knew that shutting down schools and businesses would have a disastrous affect and it did. all this talk by biden of creating millions of jobs is absolute bullshit. he didn't create any jobs. the economy is simply getting back to where it was except now we have high gas prices, inflation, and a recession and biden is incapable of doing anything about it despite his claims to the contrary.
@boudinMan By the end of Trump's term, the US had TWICE the per capita Covid death rate of places like Canada and Germany. Trump managed that crisis worse than Trudeau, if you can imagine! His pushing fake cures like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin were part of the problem, but his initial lies really let the pandemic get a foothold. Which lies? I'm glad you asked!!
@ElwoodBlues ok, let's see if i got this right... trump was a dictator, yet he didn't institute draconian measures to completely shut down the economy and the entire country to the left's liking. (imagine if he had.)
those quotes you posted are not lies. he has addressed that, saying he didn't want people to panic. but, of course, the left says he did basically nothing during the pandemic, which of course is completely false... you know, a lie.
@boudinMan Where did I say Trump was a dictator? Where did I say he should have shut down the entire economy?? Where did I say Trump did nothing??? Why are you projecting your bullshit claims onto me????
Trump, Feb. 07 to Woodward: “It goes through the air. That’s always tougher than the touch. You don’t have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.”
With that, you know every other time he tried to downplay it he was lying.
he didn't want people to panic
Every other leader in the world managed to tell the truth without causing panic. Except maybe Kim il Jung; he lied to his people too, and I'm sure he could give you a fine excuse for lying.
@ElwoodBlues oh ok, since you've been sleeping under a rock... the left has relentlessly accused him of being dictatorial, completely unaware of the fact that dictators don't allow criticism of themselves. furthermore, dims, including biden, said he didn't go far enough in shutting down the economy. and, in case you didn't know, recent news reports show that children's test score suffered significantly during the pandemic because of schools being shut down. also, the CDC has admitted that they made serious errors in the guidelines they issued during said pandemic. guess who fought the idea of closing schools and keeping them shut for so long? one guess.
the left has relentlessly accused him of being dictatorial
No, of ATTEMPTING to be dictatorial. And you've got to admit his reactions to criticism are extremely childish!
said he didn't go far enough in shutting down the economy.
Actually, we said he delayed it too long, allowing the virus to get a much better foothold.
You guys advertise yourselves as the "choose life" party. And that's a nice slogan to get the single issue anti-abortion voters onboard. But when you look at republican responses to the pandemic, it's clear your priority is "choose money." I'm not saying it's the wrong priority, I'm just saying it's highly hypocritical to SAY "choose life" when your actions are saying "choose money."
@ElwoodBlues i have no idea what you mean by 'choose money'. if you're referring to the economy and jobs over getting jabbed, then you are conveniently ignoring the negative effects of a bad economy and also the health effects some people suffered because of the vaccination.
and, yes the dims did call for more austere measures on the economy, including biden.
the health effects some people suffered because of the vaccination
Yeah, something like one person in a thousand had swelling around the heart that cleared up in two weeks after the jab. Meanwhile, the unjabbed who got Covid had a 1% death rate and a 15% to 25% rate of long covid.
There is no risk free path in life; we're always evaluating tradeoffs. And the risks of facing covid unvaccinated are FAR FAR worse than the risks of the jab. Want me to cite my statistics???
In 2021, the 75% of Americans fully vaccinated produced under 20% of the Covid deaths, while the 25% unvaccinated Americans produced over 80% of the Covid deaths.
In 2021, the 75% of Americans fully vaccinated produced under 31% of Covid cases; while the 25% unvaccinated Americans produced nearly 70% of Covid cases.
This means the US unvaccinated had a 5X higher chance of contracting Covid compared to the vaccinated per capita, and that overall the unvaccinated had about a 15X higher probability of Covid death per capita.
Note: since 'Long Covid' occurs in 15% to 25% of Covid cases, that means there is also a 5X higher prevalence of Long Covid per capita among the unvaccinated.
