I hope Trump runs.
Only 28% of independents want him to run, and 61% of Americans overall DON'T want him to run. These numbers haven't really changed since the insurrection 18 months ago.

This pretty much guarantees Trump will lose. But if he runs, he soaks up much of the republican fundraising and forces every republican downballot candidate to either support him or do battle with him.
The recent 'special master' decision on the secret documents at Mar a Lago delays the whole process of indicting him, and gives him a chance to announce his candidacy after the midterms. Announcing is good for him because he can pretend all the investigations are purely political. And that pretense only plays with 1/3 of the electorate.
Trump is destroying the GOP from within. The best thing for America is to let him continue in that process.
