Today's Political Left is Rotten to the Core

[This post refers to the European left. It is unrelated to anything in America.]

In 1936, when General Franco's Catholic butchers terrorized Spain to establish a fascist tyranny, left-wing people from all over the world (including America, the Lincoln Battalion!) went to Spain, to fight against those brutes, and to help defeating fascism.

"Civilized" countries such as France and the UK did not provide those fighters with heavy armament, in order not to upset Hitler. The Spanish republic lost the war, as a result, but at least those left-wing men and women fought before they were defeated. They stood up against evil.

Today's leftists stink like rotten meat. They see those brave Ukrainians as NATO's useful idiots, they try everything in their might to prevent their governments from sending appropriate armament to Ukraine ("hey it's because we are so peaceful!", "Hey it's because Vladi has nukes!").

Today's left just licks the blood off of Putin's boots.

Trump literally spent the four years of his presidency praising Putin. His method and the outcome. How can you accuse the left of licking Putin's boots with a straight face?
helenS · 36-40, F
@RosaMarie I can accuse the left because I'm a family member.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@helenS Putin's or Trump's family?
helenS · 36-40, F
@ChipmunkErnie The left used to be my family.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@helenS And you were disowned?
helenS · 36-40, F
@ChipmunkErnieI'm afraid I'll have to disown myself. I can't be a member of a political family whose anti-Americanism is so predominant that they are willing to ally to a monster like Vlad the butcher.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@helenS I have no idea what you're talking about-- sounds more like Trump propaganda than the reality of any liberals I know.
helenS · 36-40, F
@ChipmunkErnie
I am not talking about American liberals.

I am not talking about American liberals.

I am not talking about American liberals.

🤬
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@helenS Oh, sorry. Okay.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@RosaMarie Putin took Crimea when Obama was in office and invaded the rest of Ukraine now that Biden is in office. Putin made no moves while Trump was in office.

You think there's a correlation here?
MartinII · 70-79, M
@RosaMarie Trump said some things in praise of Putin, but he did nothing to support or appease him. On the contrary, he urged Europe to strengthen its defences.
Those pesky facts again @HoraceGreenley
room101 · 51-55, M
@MartinII "....he did nothing....." that's the entirety of trumps single term in office, he did nothing. Other than turn America into the shitshow that it is.

Oh and by the way, as the author has stated numerous times, this post isn't about trump or America. You are not the centre of the world and neither is your orange traitor.
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 Martin is a nice and honest old-school Englishman. Very English, I have to say 😏
room101 · 51-55, M
@helenS I don't recall ever interacting with him previously. Given his apparent support for trump, I assumed that he is American. Thanks for the info.
room101 · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley Yeah, the correlation is that both in 2014 and now, putin knew (and knows) that he doesn't have a lackey installed in the White House so took matters into his own hands.

And I think that's simply true. Regarding Putin and Russia, there's a huge discrepancy between what Trump said, and what he did. I remember how the Germans were outraged because he urged them to increase their military budget.
room101 · 51-55, M
@helenS The Germans were not exactly "outraged" by trumps demands.

As a consequence of WW2, Germany had very limited scope on what it could do in terms of its military capability. This meant that recent generations of Germans have grown up with very adverse reactions to any kind of military presence and expenditure. This, in part, also explains why they have seemingly done very little to give military aid and support to Ukraine.

So, when trump started badgering them to contribute more to NATO - he often worded it in such a way that it seemed like member nations paid into a NATO pot - Germans balked at the idea.
helenS · 36-40, F
@room101 Yes you are right - my wording was probably unfortunate.
DDaverde · 56-60, M
@RosaMarie democrats suck they will start ww3 by financing Ukraine..
Brasceo · 41-45, M
@room101 Cheap Germany pay what your fair share don't lean on america
