This is a modern myth that the Republicans have created. The truth is that Trump was a controversial figure before then because of his racist business practices. He was also hated in business circles because he was known for not paying people. And he was recognized as a bad businessman who regularly went broke then got bailed out by the government.
Trump was only liked by people who knew very little about him, usually because they watched The Apprentice.

Also, fuck the Cheneys, but they are right about Trump. It's possible for horrible people to be correct about other horrible people.

@BohemianBabe just by the source you list I have to laugh and understand your desperation. I never said he was a good person. But you can tell a great deal by a man’s kids. Biden raised drug attic crooks. Trump raised well educated highly successful kids. For all his flaws, Trump was a better than average president. Especially considering he had to overcome Dems, rhinos and the media who put out lie after lie about him including trying to change both elections with proven untrue allegations about Russia.

By what metric? He had a net loss of jobs, failed to handle covid, caused a recession, empowered Russia, and nearly overthrew our Democracy because he couldn't accept that he lost.
